SmadcIrds oi1a' a new paradigm tOr autIten1ic'8tiOll. Now? For the purpose ofdris project, an approach is described for encrypting a cryptographic k.ey ftom an individual's biometric infonnation fur use in proven symmetric cipher a1gorithms. Juels and Sudan's fuzey vault is used as a starting point for building and analyzing a secure authentication scheme using fingerprints as a biometric infonnation and smartcards called a Fingerprint Vault. The proposed approach needs a biometric matching algorithm to authenticate user's smartcard.
