Abstract : Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris
This study aimed to measure the effectiveness of Indian Folklore Animation among Year Five SJK (T) pupils in Kulim District. This study was divided into two steps. First, a qualitative approach was used in the analysis of twelve principles of animation in three series Indian Folklore Animation using a checklist of animation principles done by ten animators. The verification process was done by one senior lecturer by exploring and identifying the five narrative elements in the animation series using a table of narrative elements. Second, a quantitative approach using a pre-test and post-test experimental research design was used to measure the effectiveness of Indian Folklore Animation. The measurement was done using a questionnaire on four components of Keller’s ARCS Model of Motivation among Year Five pupils. The research participants were 108 pupils from three schools. The participants were randomly assigned to the treatment and the control groups, comprising 54 pupils each. Collected data were examined using descriptive analysis and an independent t-test. The independent t-test was conducted to evaluate the hypothesis that using Indian Folklore Animation produces a significant difference on pupils’ motivation. The treatment group shows higher motivation (M=84.2, SD=10.1) than the control group (M=75.7, SD=8.8). This difference was significant (t(53)=3.78, p
