Soalan penyiasatan merupakan satu elemen asas dan penting dalam pembelajaran inkuiri terbuka bagi membolehkan sesuatu penyiasatan dirancang dan dilaksanakan oleh murid. Namun, pembinaan soalan penyiasatan merupakan satu proses yang kompleks dan memerlukan pendekatan yang sistematik. Justeru, kajian tindakan ini dijalankan untuk meningkatkan amalan guru-penyelidik dalam membimbing murid Tingkatan Satu membina soalan penyiasatan. Artikel ini menjawab persoalan utama kajian iaitu: Bagaimanakah guru-penyelidik membangunkan Investigable Questions Formulation Technique (IQFT) dalam pembelajaran inkuiri terbuka untuk membimbing murid membina soalan penyiasatan? IQFT merupakan intervensi dalam kajian ini merangkum lapan langkah utama yang direka bentuk melalui dua kitaran yang melibatkan proses: (i) merancang, ii) mengambil tindakan, iii) mengumpul dan menganalisis data, dan iv) mereflek tindakan.
Data telah dikumpul secara kualitatif termasuklah pemerhatian tidak berstruktur, rakaman foto dan dokumendokumen kerja murid. Data telah dianalisis secara naratif yang menjelaskan bagaimana guru-penyelidik membangunkan intervensi IQFT dalam usaha membimbing murid membina soalan penyiasatan dalam pembelajaran inkuiri terbuka. Antara pembelajaran utama yang diperolehi guru-penyelidik hasil daripada kajian ini termasuklah: proses membimbing murid membina soalan penyiasatan perlu dilakukan secara konsisten dan berterusan terutamanya apabila sesuatu teknik baharu diperkenalkan kepada murid seperti IQFT. Selain itu, guru-penyelidik menyedari bahawa sesuatu teori pendidikan dan pedagogi hanya berperanan sebagai asas pengetahuan guru dan ia perlu diadaptasi dan dimodifikasi mengikut konteks pengajaran guru itu sendiri.
