Abstract : Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris
This research attempts to investigate the role of cooperative learning on Arabic language performance in three selected Malaysian institution of higher learning. Dimensions such as interaction and skill that digested from cooperative learning items were used as independent predictors while performance in Arabic language is used as a criterion. Also, the study attempts to examine the learners and their instructors’ perceptions towards learning the Arabic language and its role on mastery subject matters. A total of 100 students and 30 lecturers were randomly selected from 3 Malaysian universities; namely UPSI, IIUM, and USIM and self-reported instruments were distributed for data collection. Multiple Linear Regression was used to investigate a hypothesized relationships between students’ interaction and their skills on one hand and Arabic language proficiency on the other hand. It was found as a result of Multiple Linear Regression that both factors (interaction and skill) were substantially and statistically predict Arabic language proficiency. However, gender, age, year of study and university were found to be statistically insignificant.
