Short stories are used as a medium to reflect on social anxieties that takes place in the community. This article titled ‘Themes highlighted in Malaysia and Singapore short stories from the year 2000 - 2009: A Review’ aims to clearly explained on the themes used in the short stories written by the authors from both countries. This article aims to highlights on the themes used by the Malaysia and Singapore authors and lead as an initiative to encourage the upcoming young authors. Therefore, this study aims to look into the short stories produced within these ten years of the time frame which is from the year 2000 till 2009. Other objective of this article is to create an opportunity for the upcoming young authors to identify the themes that have not be underlined previously in the short stories as aninitiative to be taken. This will be a testament to the visible personalities in the work of the authors from the two countries.
