Emotional intelligence is an important soft skills factors to be instilled among the
undergraduate’s students. However, emotional intelligence is challenging to be provided through
the traditional learning method due to limited resources which is costly to be equally delivered to
all students. Following this issue, this study was aims to compare the effect of emotional
intelligence learning between online and traditional teaching method among the undergraduate
students. Using a 2 x 3 factorial quasi-experimental design, this mixed-methods study found that
there are no difference between online and traditional teaching approach. However, the study
showed a statistically significant impact on the growth of emotional intelligence skills on the
student’s mental health. In light of these findings, we propose emotional intelligence is crucial
skills to be taught in empower the student’s mental health during their studies. However, further
investigation towards cost-effective method on emotional intelligence teaching that based on the
community understanding and cultural sensitive needed to be explored. |
