The significanceofcriticalthinkinghasprogressivelybeenperceivedandbrings manyadvantagestothepractitionersindifferentfields.Criticalthinkinginthesector of educationallowslearnerstothinkaboutandassesstheirownlearningand behaviors.Literaturestudycanbeaneffectivemethodoffosteringcriticalthinking amonglanguagelearners.Oneofsuchmethodisusinggraphicnovelsinthe classroomtopromotecriticalthinkingamongstudents.Theysupportcriticalthinking by enhancingdiscussionandprovidingvariedandthought-provokingsubjectmatter. However,theuseofgraphicnovelsstillrequirealotofempiricalevidencetosupport thesuccessofitsuseinpromotingcriticalthinking.Thus,thisresearchaimedto investigatethepotentialityofusinggraphicnovelsinpromotingcriticalthinking skillsamongstudentsintheEnglishlanguageclassroom.Targetparticipantsofthe researchwere50YearSixpupilsfromthreeschools.Theywereselectedthrough purposivesamplingtechnique.Thefindingsofthisstudyweredeterminedthroughthe useofquantitativeandqualitativeresearchusingobservationforms,questionnaires, andinterviews.Theanalysisofobservationaldatashowedgradualimprovementin answeringquestionscriticallyasthepupilsventurefurtherintothegraphicnovel. Besidesthat,10outof12statementsinthequestionnairehavemeanofmorethan4.0. Thisshowsthatthepupilsthinkthatthegraphicnovelisveryeffectiveinpromoting criticalthinking.Theanalysisofinterviewdatashowsthatthecombinationoftext andimages,colour,guttersandshortdialogueshelpedthepupilsinansweringthe higherorderquestions.Thus,itisclearfromthisstudythattheuseofgraphicnovels canbeveryeffectiveinfosteringcriticalthinkingskillsinelementarystudents.This studyshowsthatdifferentandnewreadingmaterialssuchasgraphicnovelsshouldbe exploredtoincreasestudents'motivation.
