Abstract : Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris |
The main objective of this research is to study the effectiveness of arts appreciation session at secondary school, which is to see the factors relating to students that drive the interest in implementing the appreciation session. The research was done based on 165 respondents who are form three students from 3 schools in the District of Tumpat. From the literature review being done, the researcher sees the main need of the arts appreciation session being implemented at school is to train students to think and communicate through the language of arts. At the same time, it encourages the sensitiveness of student's senses in having the attitude of accepting and rejecting as well as having practical taste on an object of art or other matters in their daily life. In general, students are creative, expressive and active. Pendidikan Seni Visual (Visual Arts Study) plays a role in developing these attitudes through visual perception, imagination and thinking. Activities of thinking, exploring and designing in the various genres of visual arts including the art appreciation session will enable students to state their ideas and self-expression. The experience is important as it helps to build selfesteem, to evaluate and to identify the students' own preferences. As a whole, the research uses the quantitative approach to measure the level of achievement and effectiveness of learning through appreciation session. The findings are then used to construct a generalization on the effectiveness of the appreciation session being studied, and as a foundation for further data. The qualitative approach is used to gather further detailed information. This approach is used to gather data from experiences, opinions and views of the respondents involved in the research, as well as data from the second source. It is also a justification in nature or a natural description and emphasizing the perspective of the study. The approach is also used with the intention to strengthen the findings from analysis compared to the qualitative approach which uses the survey and observation method. |
