This study investigates the memory strategies utilised, preferred strategies, and influencing factors among eleventh grade EFL students in Oman. This study utilises an explanatory sequential mixed methods methodology. Convenience sampling was used to involve 126 students in this study. The researcher gathered data through a questionnaire, a semi-structured interview, and an observation checklist. The questionnaire data is analysed by descriptive statistical analysis, which includes calculating the mean and standard deviation. Thematic analysis is utili..... 154 hits |
2024 Article | Using nominal group technique to investigate the factors of child sexual abuse in Malaysia Norsayyidatina Che Rozubi This study aims to study the factors contributing to sexual abuse of children in Malaysia. This study uses the nominal group technique (NGT) approach in determining the list of factors for victims and predators, involving six experts from six different institutions that are directly involved with the issue of child sexual abuse (CSA). The findings of the study show that there are four factors that reach the highest value (86.7%) for the victims, which are naivety and lack of knowledge, family problems, unsafe environment, and social media. As for predator factors, two factors were rejected because they reached a low value, namely the factor of _wanting to try_ (60%), and mental health issues (66.67%). Finally, the highest predator factors found are family crisis and upbringing style, with each reaching a value of 83.33%. The findings of the study show that several factors in the occurrence of sexual abuse against children can be identified. This matter needs attention so that this prob..... 158 hits
2024 Article | Revisiting ezra pound: An ecofeminist approach to “The river-merchant’s wife: A letter” Mohsen, Hamoud Yahya Ahmed The paper focuses on one of intrinsic studies of literary works called ecofeminism. For the object of the current research, the author chooses one of Ezra Pound's poems, as is known to all, The River-Merchant_s Wife: A Letter. The author uses descriptive and analytic method in this paper. As is discussed, the author analyzes the potential ecofeminism by reading this poem carefully and giving a special attention for the lines that express and convey ecofeminism. Meanwhile, the author uses description and figure of speech analysis to build a concrete and poetic artistic conception in this poem. The findings suggest Ezra Pound spent a lot of conception and thinking on the description of environmental vision, including women and nature. On the one hand, the writing vision is tangible, evidenced by integrating his realistic living surroundings and the artistic conception in this poem. On the other hand, the expression of this poem is emotional, which, to a certain degree, evokes contemporar..... 164 hits
2024 Article | Psychometric properties of the Malay version of the coach-athlete relationship questionnaire for coaches and athletes Sut Txi, Mon Redee Background: In the world of sports, motivation is an essential concept that can affect the sporting performance of athletes and help them accomplish their goals. The coach is regarded as an important individual with the ability to significantly influence the athlete_s motivation. To assess the impact of the coach-athlete relationship on motivation, the objective of this study was to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Malay version of the Coach-Athlete Relationship Questionnaire (CART-Q) for coaches and athletes. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among the coaches and athletes in Malaysia. Data were collected using a convenience sampling approach over a 6-month period. The study was carried out in two phases using two independent samples of coaches and athletes to assess the construct validity and internal consistency of the Malay version of the CART-Q. The CART-Q consisted of 11 items measuring three constructs: i) closeness (four items), ii) commitment (three it..... 201 hits
2024 Article | Parent-mediated behavioural intervention in children with autism spectrum disorder: A scoping review Hasrul Hosshan Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) exhibit deficits in social interaction and communication, show repetitive behaviours, and have restricted interests. They are at high risk of developing challenging behaviours, which can hinder social relationships, academic achievement, language skills, overall adaptive development, and also increase the risk of abuse in educational settings. This scoping review addresses the limited focus on parent-mediated behavioural intervention (PMBI) for managing challenging behaviours in children with ASD. Using the Arksey and O_Malley scoping review framework, we retrieved articles published between 2011 and 2022 from SCOPUS, ERIC, and SAGE Publications. Twelve articles met the inclusion criteria. Five themes emerged from the review regarding parents adopting PMBI: (1) performing functional behaviour analysis and developing behaviour intervention plans; (2) applying modification strategies and techniques of antecedent, behaviours and consequence; (3..... 247 hits

2024 Article | Nonlinear forced vibration analysis of two-directional functionally graded truncated conical shells Irdayanti Mat Nashir It is crucial to comprehend the nonlinear vibration behavior of sophisticated engineering constructions to aid in the examination, creation and production procedures. The primary objective of this study, therefore, is to focus on exploring the nonlinear forced vibrational characteristics of two-directional functionally graded (TDFG) cone-shaped shell for the first time. To accomplish this, the motion equations of the TDFG cone-shaped shell are derived based upon the framework of first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) in conjunction with von Kármán assumption. TDFG cone-shaped shell models have mechanical properties that can change smoothly and continuously across the thickness and length of the shell, following a power law distribution pattern. To discretize the partial differential equations and transform them into ordinary differential equations, the Galerkin approach was used and ultimately, these equations were solved using the multiple time scales method. The accuracy and e..... 157 hits
2024 Article | Mediating effect of teacher support and student engagement in mathematics at Chinese junior middle school Priyalatha a/p Govindasamy, Nor Junainah binti Mohd Isa This study aimed to examine the influence of teacher support on student engagement in mathematics. A cross-sectional survey was employed to recruit 632 students from grades 7 to 9 in junior middle schools across China. Participants completed various scales, including a teacher support scale, an academic self-efficacy scale, and a student engagement scale. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS 20.0 and Amos 24.0. Results showed that, first, emotional support and competence support had a significant positive effect on student engagement in mathematics. The contribution from competence support was the strongest. The contribution from autonomy support was the weakest; second, academic self-efficacy mediated the relationship between autonomy support, emotional support, and competence support and student engagement in mathematics. These findings supplement and expand the understanding of the factors that affect student engagement and provide theoretical support and useful guidance for for..... 181 hits
2024 Article | Financial development-economic growth nexus: A bibliometric analysis Gan, Pei-Tha The aim of this study is to provide a comprehensive overview of published scientific documents in the fields of financial development and economic growth from 1986 to 2024. To this end, bibliometric analysis using the VOSviewer and CiteSpace tools was conducted on 2484 documents from the Scopus database. The objectives were to identify and evaluate document descriptions; the most prolific journals, authors and countries; keywords co-occurrence; major clustering and evolution; patterns of collaboration among the countries; and burst detection analyses for journals, keywords, authors, and countries. The results show that most often, keywords that appear gradually towards the end are related to clean energy, environment, green economy, sustainable development and growth issues from 2018 until recent years. This finding suggests that the fields of interest that are complementary to energy, environment, and sustainable growth issues will continue to become fast-growing topics of study in th..... 155 hits
