| 2022 article | Personalized learning and achievement in basic Science: an experimental report Adepeju, Rashidat, A. The importance of Science to national development cannot be disputed. That is why Basic Science is taught as a foundational science subject in the Junior Secondary Schools in Nigeria. It is meant to inculcate basic scientific knowledge and skills in students. However, the subject, in which students’ performance is low, has also not enjoyed a plethora of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools to support its learning. Given these challenges, an investigation of the effect of personalized strategy on achievement in Basic Science was carried out. The study employed the pretest, posttest group, quasi-experimental design. The sample comprised of intact classes of year three (JSS 3) Basic Science students (87) from two junior secondary schools in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area. Using the Balloting method, the students were assigned experimental and control groups. Two stimulus instruments (Teachers’ Conventional Teaching Guide (TCTG) and Teachers’ Instructional Guide on P..... 235 hits |
| 2022 article | Numerical analysis for prediction of optimum deformation of long tunnel crown stability with respect to excavation depth Lawal Ezekiel Abiodun Optimum stability of tunnel structures and ground movements are influenced by excavation, and these are issues of greater concern as far as the stability of any underground structure is concerned. The critical area of concern is the stability of the tunnel crown which requires special attention to ensure the stability of the tunnel structures and the safety of both man powers and the equipment used. Before the advent of powerful design aids tools such as numerical analysis software, the tunnel’s design was primarily based on experience. The use of numerical analysis software has made it possible to model and predict the actual site conditions to achieve safer and more economical designs. This study aims to understand and predict the stability of the tunnel crown with respect to excavation depth by using Plaxis 2D v8 finite element analysis software and East Coast Railway, Malaysia tunnel project as a case study. The site condition was modeled and excavated at various tunnel depths of..... 330 hits |
| 2022 article | Morphological, structural and electrical properties of coconut shell-based reduced graphene oxide Hamdan Hadi Kusuma In this work, reduced graphene oxide (rGO) was produced by green reduction process utilizing rose water as reducing agent. Various reduction temperature were also carried out to investigate its effect to the produced rGO. Prior to the reduction process, GO was initially synthesized by Hummers’ method utilizing coconut shell (CS) as initial carbon source material. The fabricated CS-based GO and rGO were then characterized to investigate their morphological, structural and electrical properties. Based on the measurement, rGO produced by reduction process at room temperature (RT) possessed the best sample among others. rGO_RT showed the highest electrical conductivity (0,08793 ± 0,00174 mS) compared to CS-based GO or other rGO samples... 218 hits |
| article | Integrating technology-mediated learning in biology education (histology): a systematic literature review Zhong, Teoh Chern Leveraging technology is an integral component of any 21st century learning. Researchers and practitioners are still working on ways to improve the impact on student learning with the help of technology as learning tools. Therefore, this study was carried out to study the effects of integrating technology-mediated learning in biology education using systematic literature review (SLR). Finding from the analysis of selected literatures found that the integration of technology-mediated learning has a significant positive impact on students’ academic achievement and learning experience. Further research can be carried out by investigating the impact of technology-mediated collaborative learning on learning experience and academic achievement in histology. Several advantages and features of technology-mediated learning are identified through the classification of aspect in terms of learning methods, learning approaches and delivery methods... 292 hits |
| 2022 article | Information and Communication Technology Coordinators Competence in Public Elementary Schools Bulan, Camilo A. This study aimed to determine the level of competence of Information Communication Technology Coordinators in Elementary Schools of Ramon District, Isabela during the School Year 2019-2020. This study used descriptive method of research, employing the questionnaire checklist in gathering data. This method was adopted since the study aimed to find the level of competence of ICT coordinators. Mean was used to determine the level of competence of the ICT Coordinators. Results of the study shows that the respondents have an overall high level of competence on competencies related to technical operations and concepts, and productivity of various ICT tools. The respondents have an overall high level of competence on the standard 2. This implies that the ICT coordinators assumed they were highly skilled in using appropriate office and teaching productivity tools. Moreover, the respondents have an overall high level of competence related to social, ethical, legal and human issues, and communit..... 180 hits |
| 2022 article | Harnessing students conceptual understanding for authentic data analytics skills: envisioning Malaysian supply and demand Hairulliza Mohamad Judi The emergence of Data Science driven by the need to deal with data systematically and intelligently puts modern statistical practice as an important weapon. In line with the development of Data Science, the rebranding of statistics education took place in institutions of higher learning that used new labels such as data analytics courses to replace the old name of statistics courses. The objective of this paper is to highlight the implementation of teaching and learning of data analytics on three issues namely the development of the field of data analytics in the country, the challenges of implementing data analytics teaching and learning at the tertiary level and the direction of data analytics teaching and learning. Based on the shift in the paradigm of data analytics pedagogy to practical and interactive integration of conceptual understandings, recommendations for the teaching and learning of data analytics are discussed... 218 hits |

| 2022 article | Evaluation of column-wise manipulations on Ultra-Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC) data for forensic soil discrimination Lee, Loong Chuen Soil is one of the most encountered physical evidence and can be useful in tracing the location of the crime scene. The discrimination of soils is fundamental to provide a link between a suspect and a crime scene. However, discrimination study of soils could be difficult due to interferences in the chemical fingerprint of soils obtained via a chemical instrumental technique. In this study, performances of four column-wise manipulations (CWMs) on ultra-performance liquid chromatography (UPLC) data of soils were evaluated. Both univariate and multivariate exploratory tools have been employed to elucidate discriminative capability of the preprocessed UPLC data. Results showed that CWMs hardly caused any positive impact to the UPLC data... 286 hits |
| 2022 article | Data analysis integration computer imported learning: a Microsoft Excel case with statistics Cobcobo, Alice James The use of ICT in teaching and studying mathematics helps students to develop mathematics. The practice's application, therefore, depends on different considerations, amongst which: teachers' expectations of their ICT teaching skills, instructor attitudes towards teachers in mathematics, teacher attitudes towards ICT contributions to student mathematics awareness. The research was undertaken to assess ICT integration readiness in the classroom in the Paracelis district for mathematics teachers at secondary schools. The thesis used a questionnaire with comments on any of the above variables. This questionnaire was forwarded to 15 mathematics teachers at Paracelis District secondary schools. It shows that ICT teachers' intervention in mathematics has an average limit of 4.06. It also ensures that mathematics teachers are confident and willing to use ICT in mathematics and mathematics instruction. The research results indicated that the controls and the sample groups were substantially di..... 369 hits |
| 2022 article | A comparison analysis study to analysis requirements elicitation for arduino development of IoT application Noorrezam Yusop A rapid IoT application and its technology nowadays allowed the needs analyse of requirements elicitation to ensure the application product developed is consistent, correctness and complete. However, improper to elicit requirements is lead the failure of Arduino and IoT development. As requirements engineer, they must know how to elicit the requirements before proceeds to software development. Therefore, this paper provides a gap of study for existing work requirements elicitation that exist in market for commercial and for research purposes. We report our findings from review and analysis of different studies. The strengths and weaknesses of the features and utility are also presented to provide further understanding of the gaps and weaknesses of each research. We conclude that these researches are still immature and need further improvements... 277 hits |
