The effect of Yttria-Stabilized Zirconia (YSZ) addition on the synthesis of? ETA-Tricalcium Phosphate (?-TCP) from biogenic hydroxyapatite
Ismail Zainol
The utilization of ?-tricalcium phosphate (?-TCP) in medical field has been on demand for their excellent biocompatibility, bioactivity and solubility properties. This material can be produced through degradation of hydroxyapatite (HA) at high temperature. In this research, biogenic hydroxyapatite from fish scales (FsHA) was selected as pre-cursor for the synthesis of ?-TCP. The effect of yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) addition on degradation of FsHA into ?-TCP have been investigated. Different amount of YSZ ranging from 5 to 15 wt% were mixed with FsHA and ball milled into fine powder. The mixture was then sintered at temperature of 1200 C. The materials were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results from FTIR, XRD and SEM-EDX analyses proved that the presence of ?-TCP in the sintered sample at 1200oC. The percentage of ?-TCP was calculated ranging from 17 to 21 % as analyzed fro.....

Ismail Zainol
In this study, the properties of composites produced using solvent casting technique from poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and fish scale hydroxyapatite (FsHA) were investigated. Some amount of FsHAp powders (from 10 to 70 wt%) were added to the PLA solution and stirred for eight hours after the PLA was dissolved in the dichloromethane (DCM) solvent. The homogeneous mixture of PLA and FsHA was poured into the metal mould and dried in the oven for 4 hours to produce a dried PLA/FsHA composite sheet. The PLA/FsHA composite sheet with different FsHA filler contents was successfully prepared. These composites were characterised by Fourier transform infared spectroscopy (FTIR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), tensile tester and scanning electron microscope (SEM). It can be seen that by addition of 50 wt% FsHA filler contents gave the highest Youngs Modulus and tensile strength values of 2114.8 MPa and 23.3 MPa, respectively due to effective interaction between fillers and matrix. The meltin.....

Using jigsaw in teaching reading comprehension acrossdifferent personalityand psychology awareness
Robe’ah Yusuf
In order to teach reading, one must teach all of the components of language (hearing, speaking and writing) as well as reading. As soon as they've mastered listening and speaking, reading is usually provided. We wanted to see whether or not there was a correlation between personality and the jigsaw's ability to improve reading comprehension, as well as whether or not it had an influence on an extrovert and an introvert's performance. before administering jigsaw or conventional therapy to the experimental group, the researcher administers a questionnaire on personality to the students. The study was conducted at a university with 55 eleventh-grade students, with 30 students in the experimental group being 20 percent extroverts and 10 percent introverts, and 25 students in the control group being 15 percent extroverts and 10 percent introverts. As a way of tasting the strength of a hypothesis's association with several variables, the researcher used an experimental factorial design. The .....

Effect of tacit knowledge on student self-determination in Indonesia: a mixed-methods study
Aslina Ahmad
This study was initiated in response to the condition of students' low self-determination, which results in an inability to complete tasks well, a low achievement index, and even congestion and dropout. The research employed a mixed methodology with a concurrent embedded design and a selection without random assignment. The participants of this study were 406 undergraduate students in Indonesia, with 38 experimental and control participants, respectively. The self-determination instrument refers to the theory of Ryan and Deci, which was analyzed using the Rasch Model, and the effectiveness test used the Mann-Whitney U test. The results showed the impact of the identified regulation level that the focus of learning in higher education was successful in developing cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects but still needs to reach the development of students' self-determination dimension. The tacit knowledge model has advantages in the learning process that can be attached to all cour.....
