A study of attitudes, skills, and barriers among the special education hearing impairment teachers in the use of assistive technology in teaching

In the context of special education, most of the special education hearing impairment (SEHI) teachers understand that the use of assistive technology (AT) is a necessity in teaching and providing opportunities for SEHI students to control and improve their learning. However, the question of the acceptance of SEHI teachers use of AT in teaching is not much discussed. The objective of this study is to examine the attitudes, skills, and barriers of SEHI teachers to the use of AT in teaching. This study was conducted in special education secondary schools (SESS) in Selangor, Penang, Pahang, and Kedah. The sampling used was a purposive sampling of four respondents, consisting of two male teachers and two female teachers. The design of this study uses qualitative approaches, and interviews are the methods used as research instruments. Augmented Reality AR: An assistive technology for special education needs

Since 2017, the Ministry of Education has introduced Basic Vocational Skills subjects that able special students to master basic living skills in their schooling years underlying Secondary School Standard Curriculum – Special Education (KSSM –PK). The biggest challenge for individuals with ASD is to be independent and get jobs after schooling. Hence, beginning in 2017, Secondary School Standard Curriculum – Special Education (KSSM –PK) has introduced the Basic Vocational Skills subject, which students must master during their schooling years. From the preliminary study, many teachers revealed that they face difficulty delivering lessons primarily related to teaching and learning materials to enhance ASD students mastering living and vocational skills. Designing and developing effective teaching and learning aids, especially for children with special education needs are in alarming stages. Despite the growing interest in AR applications for learning, research in this area is still in its early stages, particularly concerning the development of AR applications tailored for children, taking into account their needs and design preferences. This study aims to gain insights into children's perspectives on interface and content design, specifically for augmented reality application development. By involving children in the design process, the study seeks to identify their interface design preferences for AR characters and explore the topics that interest them the most. Kajian ini dilaksanakan bertujuan untuk membangun dan menguji Modul Kemahiran Prabraille terhadap penguasaan Asas Literasi Braille dan Bacaan Awal Braille dalam kalangan murid kurang upaya penglihatan di Malaysia. Pembangunan Modul Kemahiran Prabraille adalah berpandukan Model ADDIE. Fasa analisis dilaksanakan bersandarkan discrepancy model melibatkan 92 orang guru pendidikan khas dalam bidang penglihatan yang terpilih secara rawak dari seluruh negara. Fasa Reka Bentuk dan Pembangunan melibatkan tujuh orang pakar dan dilaksanakan berpandukan Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM). Fasa implementasi diteruskan dengan kuasi eksperimen ujian pra dan ujian pasca kumpulan tidak setara (NEGD) bagi menguji penguasaan responden terhadap elemen-elemen yang dikaji. Kajian ini memberi tumpuan kepada Nilai Integriti Dalam Masyarakat Melayu Melalui Gurindam Dua Belas yang tergolong dalam Puisi Melayu Tradisional. Menerusi kajian ini, pengkaji cuba melihat nilai-nilai murni yang diterapkan di dalam karya agung ini serta melihat nilai integriti daripada penerapan nilai-nilai tersebut. Kajian ini membahagikan Gurindam Dua Belas kepada enam amanat yang ingin disampaikan oleh pengarang supaya menjadi panduan dan ikutan kepada masyarakat. Melalui kajian ini dapat mencungkil apa yang tersirat di sebalik gurindam tersebut. Enam amanat tersebut merangkumi yang pertama, melalui fasal pertama dan kedua beragama dan beribadat. Validating a Malay version of loewensteinoccupational therapy cognitive assessment for geriatrics (M-LOTCA-G)

The purpose of this study was to translate the LOTCA-G into a Malay language (M­LOTCA-G) for assessing cognitive deficit among institutional elderly who undergo occupational therapy. LOTCA-G battery is being used by Occupational Therapist in Malaysia to identify the underlying cognitive deficits among elderly. The study was based on a single group test-retest design where 52 selected subjects (among elderly) have been tested for reliability and validity. The new version of LOTCA-G called M-LOTCA-G was compared with the original version and another cognitive screening instrument Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) to examine its consistencies and abnormality interpretation. This study concluded that M-LOTCA-G is reliable as the Cronbach Alpha value is more than 0.9 and the overall reliability of the subtests are very good for 23 sub-tests that have been tested. Development of dribbling speed instrument and analysis dribbling speed, relationship between anthropometric and physical conditions among Indonesian futsal players

Dribbling is the basic function of allowing players to maintain control the ball while running past opponents or accelerating into open space. This study aims to develop futsal dribbling sensor instrument (FDSI) based on the analysis of dribbling distance of futsal players in matches, evaluate the validity and reliability, and investigate the relationship between anthropometric factors and physical condition with dribbling speed. This study uses the research and development method. Researcher recruited 132 Indonesian futsal players with Age 19.5 _ 1.1 Years, Height 166.9 _ 5.8 cm, Weight 60.0 _ 8.6 kg. The results revealed that the average dribbling distance of futsal players in matches is 10.55 meters. The initial product in the form of 10 m x 4 m FDSI was revised and the final product was 10 m x 6 m. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk membangun dan menilai keberkesanan Modul BIO4GS terhadap Kemahiran Berfikir Aras Tinggi (KBAT), penglibatan dan motivasi murid dalam pembelajaran Biologi. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kajian Reka Bentuk dan Pembangunan yang melibatkan tiga fasa iaitu analisis keperluan, reka bentuk pembangunan dan penilaian. Kaedah tinjauan terhadap 352 orang murid dan 71 orang guru Biologi dilaksanakan pada fasa analisis keperluan. Fasa reka bentuk dan pembangunan melibatkan kesepakatan 23 orang pakar terhadap elemen modul dan gamifikasi menggunakan Kaedah Fuzzy Delphi. Kaedah eksperimen kuasi melibatkan 67 orang murid tingkatan empat untuk menilai keberkesanan Modul BIO4GS. Kajian ini mengkaji model hubungan saling berkait antara faktor personal dalaman, persekitaran dan tingkah laku pelajar dalam mempengaruhi pencapaian matematik pelajar. Reka bentuk kajian kuantitatif ini merupakan kajian tinjauan secara keratan rentas menggunakan soal selidik MSLQ (Motivated Strategies for Learning Questionnaire), PSI (Problem-Solving Inventory) dan SCoF (Students_ Conceptions of Feedback) yang diadaptasi dan diubahsuai. Analisis indeks kesahan kandungan, faktor penerokaan, kebolehpercayaan Cronbach Alpha dan pengesahan faktor dijalankan untuk menilai kesahan serta kebolehpercayaan faktor soal selidik kajian. Kesahan dan kebolehpercayaan soal selidik huraian kendiri yang menggunakan skala selang penilaian kendiri 10 mata berjaya diperolehi. Alergi: prevalens dan kejituan diagnostik kendiri dalam kalangan populasi Tanjong Malim

Penyelidikan status pengetahuan, diagnostik kendiri serta faktor penggalak alergi tidak banyak dijalankan di Malaysia. Justeru, satu kajian permulaan dijalankan bagi tujuan mengisi kelompangan ilmu tersebut. Seramai 200 sampel (73 pelajar, 39 guru, 49 ibu dan 39 bapa) telah menjawab semua soalan tentang pengetahuan alergi menggunakan instrumen soal selidik. Seramai 173 sampel pula telah membuat diagnostik kendiri tentang status alergi sebelum menjalani ujian cucuk kulit menggunakan 36 jenis alergen yang berbeza. Hasil kajian mendapati tahap pengetahuan alergi sampel adalah rendah (min 36.8, sisihan piawai 15.15). Tahap pengetahuan guru adalah sederhana (min 49.9, sisihan piawai 11.9); pelajar, ibu dan bapa pada tahap rendah masing-masing dengan min 33.3, 34.5 dan 33.2; sisihan piawai 12.2, 15.9 dan 15.3. Kajian ini juga mendapati 58 (33.5%) mengaku mempunyai alergi tetapi hanya 13.8% yang membuat diagnostik kendirinya dengan tepat. Sebaliknya 90.4% daripada 115 (66.5%) yang mengaku tia.....
