A systematic review of anomaly detection within high dimensional and multivariate data
Shazlyn Milleana Shaharudin
In data analysis, recognizing unusual patterns (outliers analysis or anomaly detection) plays a crucial role in identifying critical events. Because of its widespread use in many applications, it remains an important and extensive research brand in data mining. As a result, numerous techniques for finding anomalies have been developed, and more are still being worked on. Researchers can gain vital knowledge by identifying anomalies, which helps them make better meaningful data analyses. However, anomaly detection is even more challenging when the datasets are high-dimensional and multivariate. In the literature, anomaly detection has received much attention but not as much as anomaly detection, specifically in high dimensional and multivariate conditions. This paper systematically reviews the existing related techniques and presents extensive coverage of challenges and perspectives of anomaly detection within high-dimensional and multivariate data. At the same time, it provides a clear.....

Roznim Mohamad Rasli
This research focuses on the learning challenges that both students and teachers face during the learning process. It addresses the different techniques and methods used for face recognition. The proposed VTA model uses the convolutional neural networks to recognize the identities of the student. It gathers the facial expressions and body poses of each student in the classroom and predicts the attention level of that student, thus determining his/her learning capabilities. This research will help the students achieve their learning objectives by being able to get an accurate and real evaluation of their contribution and attention during the classes. Also, the proposed VTA model helps the teacher get some insight into his/her teaching methodologies during the class as the model will observe and record the attentiveness of the students. This research will have a significant positive impact on student success and on effective lecturing. 2023 IGI Global. All rights reserved...

Developing self-assessment instruments to measure students performance characters in making dresses using a high-order thinking skills approach
Farah Najwa Ahmad Puad
Self-assessment in practicum courses may develop students' character, for example, honesty, discipline, and responsibility. Moreover, it can also improve students' initiative and critical, creative thinking. However, assessment for practicum courses is often fully conducted by lecturers with minimum involvement from students. This study aims to develop self-assessment instruments to assess students characters while performing fashion design practicum using the HOTS approach. The instruments were developed using the 4D model by Thiagarajan that consists of four stages, namely Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The sample was collected purposively from 15 students taking the Haute Couture course. The developed instruments were validated by experts in fashion design and were considered Almost Perfect. The interrater reliability index is higher than 0.7, meaning that these met the criteria required. The collected data were then analyzed using descriptive statistics. The self-assessm.....

Nasir Nayan
This study aims to study carbon monoxide (CO) concentration in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur (FTKL), which involves primary data through field studies with a quantitative approach. The CO sampling method involves 12 observation stations covering six main zones for eight days. Data are collected twice a day at night and day between 01:00-04:00 AM and 1:00-4:00 PM. The duration of the sampling is 30 minutes for one sample. Sampling time may vary for stations but still within the stipulated time. The instrument to measure CO is the Model Carbon Monoxide meter AS700A. The Analysis is descriptive. The findings show that the lowest value at night is stations 3 and 10, with an average concentration value of 5 parts per million (ppm). Simultaneously, the highest CO value in the afternoon is at station 1 and station 4, with a concentration of 12 ppm. The overall average at each station is high, between 7 to 12 ppm. Most stations show readings exceeding the WHOs standard (5 ppm/hour). Ho.....

Practical consideration in using pre-trained Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) for finger vein biometric
Puteri Zarina Megat Khalid
Using a pre-trained Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model for a practical biometric authentication system requires specific procedures for training and performance evaluation. There are two criteria for a practical biometric system studied in this paper. First, the systems ability to handle identity theft or impersonation attacks. Second, the ability of the system to generate high authentication performance with minimal enrollment period. We propose the use of the Multiple Clip Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization (MC-CLAHE) technique to process finger images before being trained by CNN. A pre-trained CNN model called AlexNet is used to extract features as well as classify the MC-CLAHE images. The authentication performance of the pre-trained AlexNet model has increased by a maximum of 30% when using this technique. To ensure that the pre-trained AlexNet model is evaluated based on its ability to prevent impersonation attacks, a procedure to generate the Receiver Operati.....

An approach to automatic garbage detection framework designing using CNN
Shazlyn Milleana Shaharudin
This paper proposes a system for automatic detection of litter and garbage dumps in CCTV feeds with the help of deep learning implementations. The designed system named Greenlock scans and identifies entities that resemble an accumulation of garbage or a garbage dump in real time and alerts the respective authorities to deal with the issue by locating the point of origin. The entity is labelled as garbage if it passes a certain similarity threshold. ResNet-50 has been used for the training purpose alongside TensorFlow for mathematical operations for the neural network. Combined with a pre-existing CCTV surveillance system, this system has the capability to hugely minimize garbage management costs via the prevention of formation of big dumps. The automatic detection also saves the manpower required in manual surveillance and contributes towards healthy neighborhoods and cleaner cities. This article is also showing the comparison between applied various algorithms such as standard Tensor.....

Muhamad Hariz Muhamad Adnan
As the field of information technology expands, there is a huge need for cloud service providers (CSP). CSP's vast solutions and services support Cloud, IoT, Fog, and Edge computing. In today's competitive cloud market, customer satisfaction is critical more than ever. CSP and consumer satisfaction with service level agreement (SLA) fulfillment have always been given more attention. As a result of signing SLA and CSP agreements to supply resources in high demand, customers are now experiencing issues with resource delivery. Cloud and heterogeneous environments necessitate an intelligent recommender and negotiation agent model (IRNAM) to handle responsibilities in the current system. The Recommender system recommends CSP as per users' priorities, which eases the filtration process. The negotiation process provided by IRNAM ensures that users' choices are prioritized with maximum jobs to CSP. IRNAM keeps track of the most critical metrics and can reach decisions quickly and for the best .....
