2023 Article | Perfunctory or faithful: the impact of self-professional identity on labor productivity of front-line employees in hotels Fauziah Che Leh Based on the theories of professional identity and emotional labor, this study investigates the mediating role of emotional labor in the relationship between self-professional identity and labor productivity among front-line employees in hotels. Drawing upon a validated scale, a survey was conducted with 238 front-line employees working in high-star hotels to examine the impact mechanism of self-professional identity on labor productivity. The findings reveal that self-professional identity significantly and positively influences labor productivity among hotel front-line employees. Self-professional identity is identified as the antecedent variable of emotional labor, whereby it enhances the deep acting of front-line staff while reducing surface acting and improving natural acting. Emotional labor acts as an intermediary between self-professional identity and labor productivity. However, different dimensions of emotional labor exhibit notable variations in their mediating effects and i..... 247 hits
2023 Article | Using analytical hierarchy process for double auction to optimize financial performance of private higher education institutions Satria Abadi Internal factors and external factors are used to measure the performance of higher education institutions. Internal factors include those whose criteria come from within the organization, while external factors are those whose criteria come from outside the organization. Of these two factors, measurement criteria that can help in decision-making about the development and expansion of higher education competence, including financial criteria, are needed. This study examines the optimization of the financial performance of private higher education institutions by applying the Analytic Hierarchy Process method and a proposed double auction framework. Financial criteria are critical to supporting the development and enhancing the competency of higher education institutions. The Analytical Hierarchy Process is used to prioritize 19 subcriteria, with the Teaching Process Operational Cost Development sub-criterion scoring highest for each operational criterion. The double auction framework i..... 460 hits

2023 Article | Public health in the post COVID-19 pandemic and mental health onslaught: social isolation based on a biopsychosocial approach Azlina Abu Bakar @ Mohd The COVID-19 pandemic has unveiled profound deficiencies in global mental health care and prevention, posing a disproportionate threat to public health worldwide. Social isolation, a consequence of the pandemic, has strained the boundaries of human cooperation, giving rise to a spectrum of mental health challenges including stress, fear, grief, anxiety, and depression. This research empirically investigates the concept of social distance concerning individuals with mental health conditions while considering biopsychosocial determinants, notably social media influence and attitudes. A comprehensive analysis was conducted on a sample comprising 424 students from public universities along the eastern coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The findings reveal that attitudes towards mental health and the influence of social media play substantial roles in predicting social distance from individuals with mental health conditions. These predictive factors contribute significantly, accounting for up to..... 400 hits
2023 Article | DAS benchmarking methodology based on FWZIC II and FDOSM II to support industrial community characteristics in the design and implementation of advanced driver assistance systems in vehicles Abdullah Hussein Abdullah Al-Amoodi This study proposed a novel methodology of data acquisition systems (DASs) benchmarking based on fuzzy-weighted zero-inconsistency (FWZIC II) and fuzzy decision by opinion score method (FDOSM II), which are applied in an intuitionistic fuzzy set (IFS) context and account for hesitation when benchmarking DASs, to support industrial community characteristics in the design and implementation of advanced driver assistance systems in vehicles. The proposed methodology comprises two consecutive phases. The first phase involves constructing a decision matrix based on the intersection of the DAS alternatives and criteria. The second phase (development phase) proposes the formulation of a novel FWZIC II to weight the criteria and the formulation of a novel FDOSM II to benchmark DASs. Fourteen DASs were benchmarked based on the 15 DAS criteria, which included seven sub-criteria for comprehensive complexity assessment and eight sub-criteria for design and implementation, which had a significant e..... 484 hits
2023 Article | Identification of major and cross-reactive allergens of local freshwater snail (Pila polita) and the impact of thermal and non-thermal food processing on allergen stability Rosmilah Misnan BACKGROUND: Snail allergy is rare but can be fatal. Pila polita, a freshwater snail, was considered as a popular exotic food, particularly in tropical countries, and consumed in processed forms. Thus, the purpose of this study was to identify the major and cross-reactive allergens of P. polita and to determine the impact of food processing on the allergen stability. RESULTS: Sodium dodecyl sulfatepolyacrylamide gel electrophoresis fractionated raw snail extract to approximately 24 protein bands, between 9 and 245 kDa. The prominent band at 33 kDa was detected in all raw and processed snail extracts. Immunoblotting tests of the raw extract demonstrated 19 immunoglobulin E (IgE)-binding proteins, and four of them, at 30, 35, 42 and 49 kDa, were revealed as the major IgE-binding proteins of P. polita. Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry identified the 49 and 42 kDa major allergens as actin, whereas the 30 and 35 kDa major allergens were identified ..... 337 hits
2023 Article | Lexicon annotation in sentiment analysis for dialectal Arabic: systematic review of current trends and future directions Alamoodi, Abdullah Hussein Due to the vast volumes of newly streamed data on the Internet and social media, the use of sentiment analysis (SA) to extract information and analyze people's opinions has become a trendy topic. Yet, the majority of research are attributed to the English language, despite the fact that other languages, such as Arabic, are among the most popular on the Internet. Considering the availability of numerous dialects of this language and how their data were annotated and processed, the absence of research in this field is evident. Understanding these initiatives merits a great deal of attention in Arabic SA research. To the best of our knowledge, this domain has not been considered before, and thus the aim of this study is to perform a systematic review with regard to SA and data annotations for Arabic dialects published between 2015 and 2023. The outcomes of this research offer a refined taxonomy of data annotation methods classified into three categories: (1) manual, (2) automatic, and (3)..... 497 hits
