This study aimed to evaluate the biocontrol activity of antagonistic yeasts against C. gloeosporioides in papaya and determine the possible mechanism involved. One hundred and ten yeast strains were isolated from different parts of the papaya plant. Among them, only five strains, namely F001, F006, L003, FL013 and LP010, showed more than 55% radial growth inhibition of C. gloeosporioides. These five potent yeast strains were further evaluated in vitro and in vivo. The results indicated that strain F001 had the strongest biocontrol activity based on spore germination and fungal growth inhibition. In Vivo, the strain F001 caused 66.7% and 25% reductions in disease incidence and severity, respectively. Based on molecular identification, the strain F001 was confirmed as Trichosporon asahii. Despite there was no significant induction of defense enzyme ..... 396 hits |

3434 | 2021 article | Scintillation in (C6H5CH2NH3)2SnBr4: green-emitting lead-free perovskite halide materials Diguna, Lina Jaya We report the optical and scintillation properties of (C6H5CH2NH3)2SnBr4with excellent absorption length at 20 keV of 0.016 cm, measured bandgap of 2.51 eV, and photoluminescence lifetime of 1.05 ?s. The light yield obtained with the241Am source is 3600 600 photons per MeV, which is much smaller than the maximum attainable light yield obtained from the bandgap. Temperature dependent radioluminescence measurements confirm the presence of thermal quenching at room temperature with the activation energy and the ratio between the attempt and the radiative transition rates of 61 meV and 129, respectively. Although thermal quenching affects light yield at room temperature, this green light-emitting perovskite opens an avenue for new lead-free scintillating materials. ? 3436 | 2021 article | Runoff coefficient (C value) evaluation and generation using rainfall simulator: a case study in urban areas in Penang, Malaysia Zullyadini A. Rahaman The different peak discharge value estimated in the rational method (RM) model is caused by the various methods used to determine the runoff coefficient (C) parameter. The C value can be defined as the total amount of rainfall generated to become the runoff. Various studies have been conducted to produce C values that differ from one to another. For example, the C values suggested by the Manual of Storm Water Management (MSMA) and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) differed. To estimate C values, land use classification is confusing, unorganized, and not uniform, and therefore, the application of suggested C value is still doubtful to be applied in Malaysia. Thus, this research focused on estimating the C value based on the land use classification for urban areas in Penang using a rainfall simulator. The runoff coefficient will be generated from various surface types at a plot scale representing urban land use. The result obtained shows that the C values were 0.79?0.89 (asp..... 450 hits |

3439 | 2021 article | Robust estimation for proportional odds model through monte carlo simulation Zulkifley Mohamed Ordinal regression is used to model the ordinal response variable as functions of several explanatory variables. The most commonly used model for ordinal regression is the proportional odds model (POM). The classical technique for estimating the unknown parameters of this model is the maximum likelihood (ML) estimator. However, this method is not suitable for solving problems with extreme observations. A robust regression method is needed to handle the problem of extreme points in the data. This study proposes Huber M-estimator as a robust method to estimate the parameters of the POM with a logistic link function and polytomous explanatory variables. This study assesses ML estimator performance and the robust method proposed through an extensive Monte Carlo simulation study conducted using statistical software, R. Measurement for comparisons are bias, RMSE, and Lipsitzs? goodness of fit test. Various sample sizes, percentages of contamination, and residual standard deviations are consi..... 241 hits |
