Unlocking the potential of game-based learning for soft skills development a comprehensive review
Tan,Bee Sian
Soft skills are critical for undergraduate students to succeed in the workplace, but there exists a gap between the skills possessed by undergraduate students and those required by the industry. This review explores the use of game-based learning (GBL) for developing soft skills among undergraduate students. The review aims to answer four research questions that cover essential aspects of GBL, such as its theoretical foundation, skill development, game design elements, and assessment methods. Following the Preferred Reporting for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guidelines, we selected 24 journal articles with empirical results from Scopus databases spanning 2017 to 2023, applying inclusion and exclusion criteria to finalize 18 articles for review. The review identified potential challenges in using GBL for soft skills development, such as the exploration of least developed soft skills, effectiveness of theoretical foundation adoption, game design elements development, and.....

Idzreen Nur Fathennadwa Mohamad
This study provides a systematic review of literature related to social media use for youth mental health awareness and help-seeking attitudes. By adopting the Scientific Procedures and Rationales for Systematic Literature Reviews (SPAR-4-SLR) protocol, 1418 peer-reviewed articles published in academic journals between January 2018 and February 2023 were identified and acquired from Google Scholar and Web of Science databases using keyword searching techniques. The retrieved articles were then organized and purified to exclude the articles that did not meet the inclusion criteria. Of these, only12 articles were eligible for evaluation, using content analysis and thematic analysis. In the context of mental health, our review revealed two themes of social media use, which were for seeking mental health information and seeking emotional support. It was also found that social media use has the potential to enhance mental health awareness and shape positive help-seeking attitudes among yout.....

The Correlation Between Different Interventions in Writing Strategy and Self-Confidence in Constructing Argumentative Essays at Higher Education Level
Sabarun
INTRODUCTION: In every country, an adequate and reliable blood supply can be assured by a stable base of regular, voluntary, and unpaid blood donors. However, with the strike of COVID-19 around the world, fewer donors have come forward to donate blood since the government's movement control order. Therefore, to ensure the blood supply is always sufficient, this study discussed the Malaysians' motivation and intention to donate blood during the COVID-19. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The structural focus group discussion was conducted among nine informants. The informants are classified into four groups, which are non, first-time, regular, and lapsed (repeated/occasional) blood donors. RESULTS: It indicated that the regular and lapsed group of blood donors were motivated by the satisfaction of donating blood. Meanwhile, first-time donors are motivated to donate blood because of extrinsic rewards. However, the donors attested that the movement control order restricted their movement to go to th.....

Model Of Teaching Malay Language To Non-Native And Foreign Speaker
Dahlia Janan
Purpose This study aims to develop a teaching model of the Malay language for non-native and foreign speakers in schools. Implementing this model can assist educators in teaching the Malay language to students who do not use it as their first language in everyday use. Methodology This study used a qualitative approach to develop teaching models for non-native and foreign Malay speakers. Interviews were conducted with 27 teachers and 23 stakeholders who are experts in teaching the Malay language, especially in teaching non-native speakers. A prototype model was developed thematically as a result of interviews using ATLAS.ti 22. Further, the prototype model was used by ten teachers from primary, secondary, and international schools in their teaching. Findings This study has succeeded in developing a model for teaching the Malay language to non-native speakers and foreigners that includes five elements: teaching strategies, individual differences, input, social, and motivation. This model.....

Mapping Out Factors that Undermining Vaccine Uptake in Malaysia: A Multiple Perspective
Mohd Helmi Yusoh
INTRODUCTION: Malaysia has recorded a sporadic increase in vaccine-preventable diseases in many different states such as Johor, Perak, Selangor, and Sabah, to name a few. What is more worrying was the drastic drop in vaccination for children especially the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccination during the early period of COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. On this basis, this paper is intended to interrogate why vaccine uptake has decreased over the years. When vaccination became a global concern with the surge of COVID-19 cases in the first quarter of 2020, further questions were posed to understand the reality behind vaccine rejections and refusals. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This study employs a focus group discussion and in-depth interviews to explore the vaccine refusal phenomenon in Malaysia. Theoretical sampling led to the recruitment of participants from health institution, media organisation, and vaccine refusal individuals as they are useful to provide different yet connected insig.....

A comparative study on the notion of dialogue in Islam and Buddhism
Ahmad Faizuddin bin Ramli
Interfaith dialogue is a vital tool for promoting understanding and cooperation between different religious communities. This article presents a comparative study of the Islamic and Buddhist perspectives on interfaith dialogue. Drawing on primary sources from both religions, this study explores the theological foundations of interfaith dialogue and the practical strategies employed by Muslims and Buddhists in promoting interfaith understanding. The similarities and differences between the two religions approaches to interfaith dialogue are analysed, examining how their respective beliefs, practices, and histories shape their attitudes toward religious diversity. The research design is qualitative using library research by emphasizing content analysis on Islam and Buddhism scripture. The results show that the Islamic paradigm of interreligious dialogue is dawah (propagation, invitation or introducing Islam) which is rooted in Tawhid, in contrast, Buddhism promotes liberation from human .....

CO2 methanation on ?-Al2O3 nanoparticles from waste aluminium: Effect of Ba promoter on sulfur impurities
Rozita binti Yahaya
The inferior activity of ?-Al2O3 (GAL1) from the waste aluminium for CO2 methanation was improved using Ba promoter. Ba promoted CO2 conversion to ?82% with 100% methane selectivity at 400 C (Ni-Ba/GAL1), compared to ?10% conversion without Ba (Ni/GAL1). Acid digestion of waste aluminium formed residual Al2(SO4)3 at ?0.5% atomic weight, forming the detrimental NiAl2O4 under reaction conditions. Ba inhibited NiAl2O4 formation by producing BaAl2O4, increasing Ni-Ba/?-Al2O3 stability for 50 h at 400 C. In-situ DRIFTS analysis revealed that NiAl2O4 caused CO2 methanation via CO2 dissociation into CO, followed by high temperature hydrogenation to CH4. Ba promotes catalytic activity and stability of alumina with sulfur impurities by maintaining Nio oxidation states to catalyze CO2 hydrogenation to formate at low temperatures, producing a high methane yield. In addition to transforming waste aluminium into a valuable material, investigation on ?-Al2O3 catalytic activity expands its potential .....

Synthesis of new azo dyes of uracil via ecofriendly method and evaluation for the breast, liver and lung cancer cells in vitro
Saripah Salbiah Syed Abdul Azziz
Uracil derivatives have been the focus of many researchers examining their potential as a cancer-fighting agent. Human breast, liver, and lung cancer cells were used to test the target compounds and compared to cisplatin. There was a wide range of activity in the newly synthesized compounds against breast and lung cancer, but none were effective against liver cancer. Nevertheless, the most effective substances were 4d and 4j, which were quite effective against both kinds of cell lines. It was shown that the 4d compound is more effective against breast cancer than 4a, 4b, and 4c compounds, and 4j showed higher cytotoxic activity than 4e, 4f, and g compounds. We have been told that further research into the toxicity of these potent substances, as well as in-vivo testing, are necessary. 2023, Iranian Chemical Science and Technologies Association.
