5 | 2009 article | Determination of glutamate in food samples by heterogeneous membrane with chitosan as ionophore Md Isa Illyas, Ab Ghani Sulaiman, This study reported on glutamate sensors based on chitosan as a heterogeneous membrane. The linearity was found to vary from 1.0 × 10-5 M to 1.0 × 10-1 M. The limit of detection was 5.0 × 10-6 M and the pH values were in the range from 4 to 6. The presence of ionic species normally found in foodstuffs did not interfere the electrode. The material for proposed electrodes were cheap and environmental friendly and therefore are suggested as alternative tools for the analysis of glutamate. The aims are to examine the kinds of language teaching and learning activities carried out via Facebook, the use of Facebook in facilitating the teaching and learning of research report writing and the limitations of using Facebook in teaching and learning. A total of 35 students and one lecturer were involved in this study. The data was collected from document analysis and field note of Facebook entries and semi-structured interview with the participants. Data triangulation was used to provide a more complete understanding of the research findings. The findings indicate that reading, writing and discussion activities can be held via Facebook and all of the participants agreed that Facebook helps them in research report writing. Kajian ini melibatkan 68 orang pelajar. Kaedah kajian kuantitatif digunakan dalam kajian ini dengan melibatkan ujian statistik deskriptif dan disokong sebahagiannya oleh kaedah kualitatif. Protokol "The Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) digunakan sebagai instrumen dalam kajian inL Pengumpulan data dan pemerhatian dijalankan terhadap aktiviti pembelajaran melibatkan empat aktiviti pembelajaran iaitu teknik penyoalan, pengajaran melalui penggunaan contoh, tugasan kerja rumah atau folio dan eksperimen. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan min skor penerapan KBKK adalah tinggi (min = 4.1, S.P = 0.76).
