An analysis on cause, impact and strategies Of payment among contractors in Malaysian construction industry

This study aimed to identify causes, impact, reaction, and solutions of payment issue in the Malaysian construction industry. This study employed explanatory mixed methodological approach to collect data through questionnaires, focus group and interviews. The purposive sampling used consists of selected contractors listed with CIDB. Descriptive statistics and factor analysis were used. The finding reveals that payment issue arises due to poor financial management, and the attitude of local society which in turn formed financial hardship to the contractors. This study recommends that paymaster provides security bond, implementing the policy of business license deregistration and the role of financial institution. This study also denotes on the importance of educating the citizen on Malaysia construction industry..

Due to unpleasant working condition and the availability of cheap foreign worker, government has implemented the Industrialised Building System (IBS) for government project. This study aims to identify the comparison of procurement system between Industrialised Building System (IBS) and conventional construction. This study employs case quantitative approach to collect information on the comparison between IBS and conventional construction in terms of procurement. Development of financial management framework for industrialsed building system IBS project by using analytic hierarchy process AHP

This study was aimed to develop financial management framework for Industrialised Building System (IBS) project through incorporation criteria which employed Analytic Hierarchy  Process (AHP) based on adaptation from Saaty’s rule of thumb. The study also analysed the payment  issue of IBS project and factors influencing it. The criteria in the new payment method for IBS  project was also studied. The research design in this study was survey method. The research  instruments were survey questionnaire, interview protocol and focus groups. A sample of 172  respondents from 43 IBS projects in Klang Valley from the year 2008 until 2015 were selected using  the cluster sampling. Majority of IBS projects were saturated in Klang Valley. Data were analysed  using descriptive statistics which are mean and standard deviation to rank the payment issues and  Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to select the criteria for IBS project in the development of  financial management frame.....
