1 | 2016 article | Effectiveness of multi-frames video recorded experiments on pre-university students achievement for capacitor topic Ramly Rosazley, Jaafar Rosly, Mat Daud Anis Nazihah, Ali Shaharudin, Wan Mokhtar Wan Zul Adli, Haron Roszairi, Mohamed Safian Nur Azmina, The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of multi-frames video recorded experiments (MFVREs) on pre-university students’ achievement for capacitor topic. This study was carried out among 60 Diploma Science students of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Malaysia. Students’ pre-test and post-test scores were analyzed using independent sample t-test. The effectiveness of MFVREs on students’ achievement were analyzed for four subtopics of capacitor: basic concept of capacitor (S1), series connection of capacitors (S2), parallel connection of capacitors (S3) and combination of series and parallel connection of capacitors (S4). Findings revealed that MFVREs give significant effects on students’ achievement for S2, S3 and S4 subtopics but no significant effect to students’ achievement for S1 subtopic compared to PowerPoint slides. Thus, MFVREs approach can be used either as a teaching aid in normal classroom or a student-centered learning video in order to improve th..... 2137 hits |
2 | 2014 thesis | Physical properties optimization of carbon nanotubes from palm oil precursor Nur Azmina Mohamed Safian Carbon nanotubes (CNT) were synthesized from palm oil as carbon source using thermal chemical vapor deposition method (TCVD). The parametric studies were carried out to determine the optimum parameters to produce CNT with the optimum physical properties. The parameters comprise of synthesis temperature, catalyst concentration, substrate positions, precursor amount, synthesis time, carrier gas and variety of bio-hydrocarbon precursors. The physical properties of CNT were analyzed using electron microscope, energy-dispersive X-ray analysis, micro-Raman and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, thermogravimetric (TGA) and CHNS-O analyser as well as four point probe for IV measurement. The carbon precursor was also analyzed using TGA, FTIR spectroscopy and gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS) in order to optimize the physical properties of CNT. The findings revealed that the synthesis parameters have significant influence on the synthesized CNT. Based on the analysis, wel..... 733 hits |
