This article aims at studying the term "Sematics", which is one of the most important pillars in arabic Rhetoric. This study is interested in its definition in a variety of dictionaries specialized in the research of rhetoric (starting) from the oldestto the latest ones. According to ALKHALKHALI in his book "The key of summarising the key" to specify its notion, its relation to rhetoric technique,its difference from literary technique, discouering its objectives and its principal role in suiting the language to listeners, circumustances as well as ending in restricting its study that is chararcterized in eight sections. Since the article is interested in studying semantics terminologically, it has displayed all the idiomatic expressions used by ALKHALKHALI.
