Manakala ujian peringkat kedua mel..... 941 hits |

| 2019 article | A test of analytical thinking and chemical representation ability on rate of reaction topic Muhd Ibrahim Bin Muhamad Damanhuri Assessments play an important role in chemistry learning and for specific uses. The construction of a test based on multiple representation approaches is needed for measuring the 21st century thinking skills. This study aims to construct and validate a standardized test to measure students’ analytical thinking and chemical representation ability in rate of reaction topic. The test captures four aspects on analytical thinking and four levels of multiple representations (macroscopic, sub-microscopic, symbolic and mathematic). A group of experts confirmed the construct and face validity of the Test of Analytical Thinking based on Multiple Representation (TAT-MR) with 32 items. The TAT-MR was then validated by participating 449 high school students. The test characteristics were analyzed usingRasch model with Partial Credit Model-1 Parameter Logistic (PCM-1PL) approach. The results of theRaschmodeling show that there are 22 TAT-MR items with excellent reliability. Hence, the TAT-MR is ac..... 1135 hits |
| 2019 article | Assessing the relationship between program education objectives and program learning outcomes in outcome-based education using partial least squares-structural equation model Zulkifley Mohamed Institution of higher learning in Malaysia has implemented an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) since 2007. Among the crucial components of OBE were the Program Education Objectives (PEOs) and Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs). The development of PEOs has to take into consideration the involvement of stakeholders, in order to address their needs and requirements and also must in line with the institutional vision and mission. PLOs, on the other hand, has to be aligned with PEOs to attain OBE. The study withal strive the relationship between PLOs and PEOs in OBE by using Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM) approach as the sample size was too small to utilize Structural Equation Modelling-Analysis of Moment Structure (SEM-AMOS). A simple random sampling was used to select 90 teachers throughout Malaysia. The selected teachers were a graduate of Sultan Idris Education University's (UPSI) Mathematics Education Degree (BEd Maths). From the analysis, it revealed that all the..... 1211 hits |
| 2020 article | Chemistry laboratory management techniques massive open online course: Development and evaluation on students’ perception Lee, Tien Tien To date, statistics in OpenLearning have demonstrated that the number of Massive Open Online Courses developed by Malaysia higher education institution is not achieving the target of DePAN 2.0. Hence, this study is aimed at developing a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on Chemistry Laboratory Management Techniques (CLMT) course and investigating the students’ perception of the MOOC. The CLMT MOOC is developed by applying the ADDIE model as the instructional design model. In this regard, analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation are the phases involved. Three experts were appointed to evaluate the content validity of the e-content module and e-assessment module in the MOOC by filling the content validity evaluation form. According to the results, both e-content and e-assessment modules obtained validity index of 1.00. A group of 27 students was involved in the pilot study to answer the reliability questionnaire and the Cronbach’s alpha for the two modules was fo..... 733 hits |

| 2021 article | Design thinking for creative teaching of chemistry Komathy Veerasinghan The current problem in chemistry education is the lack of creative teaching in a chemistry classroom. There is a lack of exploration in learning experiences that engage students in realistic, thought-provoking problems, working with others, and applying their knowledge, skills, and creativity to find solutions to real-world problems. One of the biggest challenges for Malaysian secondary chemistry education is that few guidelines or models exist regarding teaching chemistry creatively in the classroom. Therefore, this paper provided a systematic and analytical strategy in mapping out and offering a critical review on design thinking in education. Overall, this study recognized the gains that can be made from utilizing Design Thinking in education, especially in the global quest of teaching 21st-century skills, and had recommended using Design Thinking in the Lesson plan and Project-Based Learning. This paper also suggested a need to pursue further studies on developing a Design Thinking..... 1430 hits |
| 2021 article | The reliability and usability perception of organic chemistry synthetic pathways board game Rajakumar Ramachandran This study aims to present the reliability and student’s usability perception of an educational board game in teaching and learning synthetic pathways at matriculation level. This board game mainly called as Synthetic Pathways of Organic Compounds (COPS). The research design used was ADDIE model. Needs analysis survey on 35 chemistry teachers and lecturers as well as previous literatures proved synthetic pathways and retrosynthetic reactions can be taught using game-based learning approach. Respondents for the research were one year matriculation program students from one of the colleges in Malaysia which was determined using two stage cluster sampling. Analysis of the usability perception data (mean score) shows students agreed on achieving learning goals (4.57) of organic chemistry synthetic pathways via COPS board game. Besides that, they also agreed on attractive board design (4.45), good board organisation (4.43), excellent playability (4.48) and high usability (4.48). Besides t..... 265 hits |
