Keperluan bagi menyediakan para pendidikan tinggi di Malaysia pada masa depan khususnya dalam menghadapi era Society 5.0 amat penting dan sejajar dengan pembangunan negara. Bagi menghadapi peluang dan cabaran pendidikan tinggi ini maka perbincangan dalam kertas kerja ini meliputi peluang dan cabaran dalam menghadapi era Society 5.0. Sumber data adalah artikel-artikel dan buku atau e-book yang berkaitan. Data dianalisis berdasarkan objektif dan tema kajian dengan menggunakan pendekatan analisis wacana kritis. Dapatan menunjukkan lima peluang dan cabaran yang perlu dihadapi di peringkat pendidikan tinggi. Antara peluang dalam menghadapi Society 5.0 ialah kewujudan bidang-bidang pengajian berteraskan Society 5.0, peluang pekerjaan, kurikulum, penjanaan ekonomi gig dan memperkasakan lagi pembelajaran sepanjang hayat. Cabaran utama meliputi kualaiti dan kompeten graduan, krisis identiti, pendemokrasian pendidikan dan prasana teknologi. Peranan kepimpinan organisasi juga turut dibincang bagi menangani dan menghadapi Society 5.0 khususnya dalam melibatkan empat fungsi pengurusan dalam organisasi. Implikasi kertas wacana ini adalah memberi input dan cadangan bagi menghadapi era society 5.0 di Malaysia khususnya dalam bidang pendidikan tinggi.
