Kajian ini bertujuan mengkaji pemilihan teks puisi klasik dalam buku teks Bahasa
Cina menengah rendah bagi Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Menengah (KSSM).
Objektif kajian ini adalah untuk mengenal pasti kesesuaian kandungan teks puisi
klasik dalam buku teks dan persepsi murid terhadap teks puisi klasik yang dipelajari
dalam buku teks Bahasa Cina serta penerapan nilai murni dan estetik dalam
kalangan murid menengah rendah. Kajian ini merupakan kajian kualitatif dengan
menganalisis buku teks dan menjalankan sesi temu bual. Dapatan kajian
menunjukkan bahawa sebanyak dua puluh tiga buah puisi klasik dalam buku teks
telah memenuhi standard pemilihan puisi klasik iaitu ideologi, kesenian, keseronokan,
informatif serta sifat kontemporari, tiga belas buah puisi klasik memenuhi empat
standard pemilihan puisi klasik, tiga belas buah puisi klasik memenuhi tiga standard
pemilihan puisi klasik manakala dua buah puisi klasik memenuhi dua standard
pemilihan puisi klasik. Minat pembelajaran murid nyata dipertingkatkan dengan teks
puisi klasik yang memenuhi lima atau empat aspek dalam standard pemilihan teks
puisi klasik. Nilai murni dan nilai estetik telah diterapkan ke dalam minda murid
dengan mempelajari teks puisi klasik yang memenuhi aspek ideologi, kesenian dan
informatif. Kesimpulannya, kajian ini telah membuktikan bahawa teks puisi klasik
yang dipilih masih perlu ditambahbaik dari segi keperluan standard pemilihan puisi
klasik supaya minat pembelajaran dan penerapan nilai murni serta estetik dalam
kalangan murid dapat dipertingkatkan. Implikasi kajian ini menunjukkan tema puisi
klasik mendekati kehidupan murid dan memenuhi lima standard pemilihan puisi klasik
berkeupayaan meningkatkan minat pembelajaran murid dan dapat dijadikan rujukan
kepada panel penggubal sukatan pelajaran terutamanya dalam perancangan dan
perlaksanaan kurikulum di peringkat Bahagian Pembangunan Kurikulum (BPK),
