Abstract : Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris
Kajian ini bertujuan untuk memahami respons netizen di Malaysia terhadap golongan mak nyah di ruang maya. Dengan menggunakan reka bentuk kualitatif melalui kaedah netnografi, kajian ini mendapatkan data dari platform media sosial yang dimiliki oleh empat orang mak nyah. Sejumlah 3086 komen netizen telah diperoleh daripada 38 paparan yang dikongsikan oleh mak nyah. Komen tersebut seterusnya dianalisis dengan menggunakan perisian ATLAS.ti dan telah menghasilkan tiga tema utama. Pertama, netizen mengiktiraf identiti gender mak nyah sama ada sebagai seorang lelaki, pondan atau wanita. Kedua, tindakan diskriminasi netizen terhadap mak nyah adalah merangkumi tingkah laku; memboikot mak nyah, hinaan mak nyah sebagai pelacur, hinaan ciri fizikal mak nyah, hinaan perhubungan intim mak nyah, hinaan mak nyah sebagai hamba duit, hinaan penjaga mak nyah, paksaan pembuktian identiti biologi, sasaran keganasan lisan dan gangguan seksual terhadap mak nyah. Ketiga, langkah untuk mengelakkan diskriminasi oleh netizen di Malaysia adalah merangkumi tindakan saling menghormati antara satu sama lain, penerapan elemen Islam, memikirkan kesan diskriminasi terhadap mak nyah, pemantapan pengetahuan tentang mak nyah dan melaksanakan seruan untuk menghentikan gejala buli siber. Dapatan kajian ini berupaya untuk menghasilkan panduan ke arah mewujudkan ruang maya yang selamat kepada semua golongan dengan mengambil contoh golongan minoriti seksual seperti mak nyah.
