Abstract : Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris
Kajian ini bertujuan meneliti kesan kaedah multimedia terhadap pembelajaran subjek geografi dalam kalangan pelajar menengah rendah di Kinta Utara. Fokus penelitian tertumpu kepada tiga pemboleh ubah kajian iaitu literasi pelajar terhadap bahan multimedia, kesan penggunaan kaedah multimedia dalam subjek Geografi dan respon pelajar terhadap penggunaan kaedah multimedia dalam proses pembelajaran. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Instrumen soal selidik digunakan untuk mengumpul data primer. Pemilihan responden menggunakan teknik pensampelan rawak mudah yang melibatkan 370 orang pelajar tingkatan satu daripada 42 sekolah di daerah Kinta Utara. Proses pengumpulan data dilaksanakan secara atas talian iaitu melalui Googleform dan dihantar ke Google Drive. Analisis deskriptif dalam bentuk peratusan, min, mod dan statistik infrensi t-test bebas digunakan dalam kajian ini. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan 97% responden mempunyai literasi berkaitan kaedah multimedia dengan menyatakan komponen multimedia dengan tepat. Seterusnya 94.7% responden menyatakan bahawa kefahaman terhadap kandungan subjek Geografi meningkat hasil penggunaan bahan multimedia. Sebanyak 94.8% responden menyatakan bahawa penggunaan multimedia memberi gambaran realistik tentang konsep-konsep Geografi. Seterusnya, ujian-t bebas menunjukkan terdapat perbezaan signifikan kesan multimedia terhadap penglibatan pelajar berdasarkan lokasi dengan nilai signifikan levene bersamaan 0.001 lebih kecil daripada 0.05. Manakala kesan penggunaan multimedia terhadap penglibatan dan kefahaman pelajar tidak menunjukkan perbezaan yang signifikan berdasarkan faktor jantina dan lokasi sekolah kerana nilai signifikan levene bersamaan 0.92 lebih besar daripada 0.05. Kesimpulannya, kajian ini menunjukkan bahawa penggunaan kaedah multimedia dalam pembelajaran subjek Geografi memberi impak positif daripada aspek menarik minat pelajar, meningkatkan kemahiran ICT, minat murid terhadap proses PdP dan juga penglibatan secara langsung dalam proses PdP. Implikasi kajian ini secara langsung dapat dijadikan sebagai panduan kepada para guru dalam merancang strategi pengajaran dan pembelajaran Geografi berasaskan multimedia yang menarik dan menyeronokkan. Pada masa yang sama, kajian ini dapat memberi gambaran tentang bentuk-bentuk perkakasan dan perisian multimedia yang diperlukan bagi melaksanakan kaedah multimedia secara menyeluruh dalam PdP.
