Abstract : Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris
Murid tingkatan empat yang mengambil subjek Biologi didapati mempunyai masalah di dalam memahami dan menguasai kemahiran manipulatif ketika melakukan amali di sekolah. Kajian ini dijalankan bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti tahap kefahaman kemahiran manipulatif dan hubungannya dengan pencapaian akademik dalam kalangan murid Biologi tingkatan empat di sebuah sekolah menengah di Tapah. Reka bentuk kajian adalah tinjauan dan menggunakan kaedah kuantitatif berbentuk deskriptif dan inferensi. Seramai 132 orang murid terlibat sebagai sampel kajian ini dan teknik pensampelan yang digunakan ialah pensampelan mudah. Nilai indeks kesahan kandungan bagi instrumen kajian adalah 1.00 manakala nilai pekali kebolehpercayaan bagi instrumen (Alpha Cronbach) adalah 0.809. Dapatan ini menunjukkan instrumen kajian mempunyai nilai kesahan dan kebolehpercayaan yang tinggi. Hasil kajian mendapati tahap kefahaman kemahiran manipulatif dalam kalangan murid tingkatan empat berada pada tahap yang tinggi dengan nilai purata min 3.331 (sp = 0.207). Ujian korelasi Spearman menunjukkan tiada perhubungan antara pencapaian akademik dan tahap kefahaman kemahiran manipulatif dengan nilai pekali korelasi (r) ialah 0.111. Kesimpulannya, tahap kefahaman kemahiran manipulatif tidak mempengaruhi pencapaian akademik murid Biologi tingkatan empat. Implikasinya, kemahiran manipulatif murid perlu dipertingkatkan agar bahan dan peralatan makmal dapat dikendalikan dengan lebih efektif semasa amali.
