| The purpose of this research is to develop a courseware for a topic, Heat and to study its effectiveness as a Computer Assisted Instructions (CAI). This software was developed to suit the Form Four Physics Syllabus for Secondary School Integrated Curriculum (SSIC). It was written in English version. The multimedia courseware was designed according to an analysis on the teachers’ need which was identified and based on the Alessi & Trollip Model. The teachers’ need analysis for this work was carried out by interviewing Form Four Physics teachers with 3 to 15 years of teaching experience. The multimedia courseware was then developed by using the Swish MX and Microsoft Visual Basic software. This module was evaluated by 12 Physics teachers in Kelantan through questionnaires. The study on the use of the multimedia courseware in teaching was carried out at SMK Abdul Samad, Pulai Chondong and SMK Kok Lanas, Kota Bharu to test its effectiveness. Sample of 100 Form Four students were selected. This was divided into two groups, namely the controlled and the experimental groups. The experimental group was taught with the aid of the CAI module whereas the controlled group was taught by conventional method. After an evaluation done to these groups, it was found that the experimental group acquired better achievement. This result indicates that the courseware can be used as CAI in teaching and learning Heat. |
