Sumber rujukan utama kepada para pendidik, murid, juga ibu bapa ialah buku teks. Ianya harus terdiri daripada tugas matematik yang boleh memupuk kemahiran berfikir kreatif dan penaakulan murid. Oleh itu, kajian penyelidikan ini dilaksanakan untuk membandingkan aras kognitif soalan-soalan contoh dan soalan-soalan latihan yang terkandung di dalam buku teks Matematik Tahun 5 Malaysia dan Brunei. Kajian ini melibatkan tajuk operasi bercampur. Proses analisa kandungan buku-buku teks ini adalah menggunakan pendekatan reka bentuk tinjauan dengan kaedah kuantitatif ke atas kandungan buku-buku teks tersebut. Analisa dijalankan dengan memfokuskan kepada domain kognitif dengan merujuk kepada Taksonomo Bloom dan rangka kerja matematik TIMSS 2019. Hasil dapatan kajian mendapati bahawa, aras kognitif soalan operasi bercampur dari buku teks matematik Tahun 5 negara Brunei Darussalam mempunyai aras lebih rendah berbanding dengan buku teks yang digunakan di Malaysia. Peratus soalan melibatkan soalan berbentuk penyelesaian masalah di dalam buku teks Brunei untuk topik tersebut hanyalah 16.3% berbanding dengan buku teks Malaysia iaitu sebanyak 44.5%. Selain itu ilustrasi visual juga mampu membantu pemahaman murid. Peratus soalan bergambar dalam buku teks Matematik Tahun 5 di Malaysia ialah sebanyak 35.14% berbanding 9.18% buku teks Matematik Tahun 5 negara Brunei. Kajian ini diharapkan dapat membantu Bahagian Kurikulum Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia (KPM) untuk membuat penambahbaikan pada kandungan elemen KBAT di dalam buku teks serta meningkatkan kandungan ilustrasi visual yang lebih menarik di dalam kandungan buku teks yang akan datang bagi membantu murid memahami dan menguasai soalan dengan elemen KBAT dengan lebih baik.
