Isu bukan tradisional merupakan isu-isu yang tidak bersifat ketenteraan seperti ekonomi, politik, sosial dan alam sekitar. Jenayah pemerdagangan orang adalah satu isu bukan tradisional yang perlu diberi perhatian. Pemerdagangan orang turut dikenali sebagai perhambaan bentuk zaman moden dan dianggap sebagai ancaman bukan ketenteraan yang boleh mengancam kesejahteraan dan keselamatan individu, masyarakat dan negara. Pemerdagangan orang terdiri daripada gabungan tiga elemen iaitu tindakan (the act), cara melakukan (the means) dan tujuan pemerdagangan (the purposes). Salah satu bentuk jenayah pemerdagangan orang adalah pemerdagangan buruh paksa yang mengandungi unsur eksploitasi terhadap orang melalui kekerasan, paksaan, ancaman dan penipuan. Diskriminasi terhadap orang boleh berlaku apabila adanya tuntutan permintaan dan penawaran dalam amalan kapitalisme. Hal ini jelas menunjukkan, manusia sanggup menindas demi memenuhi kepentingan peribadi. Artikel ini bertujuan membentangkan senario berkaitan pemerdagangan buruh paksa di Malaysia. Kaedah pengumpulan data melalui teknik analisis dokumen dipilih bagi mengumpulkan maklumat berkaitan isu ini. Sumber seperti artikel jurnal adalah melalui pencarian di pangkalan data Google Scholar.
