Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji amalan kepimpinan instruktional berkenaan menentukan kesediaan pekerja dalam menghadapi perubahan dan inovasi di tempat kerja terutamanya dalam proses pendigitalan dokumen. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan reka bentuk kajian secara tinjauan berdasarkan soal selidik. Ia melibatkan 30 orang pensyarah yang menjawat jawatan Ketua Jabatan/ Ketua Unit yang dipilih secara rawak di Politeknik Sultan Idris Shah. Data telah dianalisis menggunakan ujian deskriptif. Dapatan kajian terdiri dari elemen penyediaan sumber instruksional, eleman mengekalkan kadar kehadiran, elemen kajian pembangunan profesional pensyarah, kajian memaksimumkan masa intruksional, kajian memantau kemajuan pelajar, kajian maklum balas pengajaran pembelajaran,dan pelaksanaan kurikulum. Secara keseluruhannya, dapat dilihat bahawa ketua jabatan di Politeknik Sultan Idris Shah yang terlibat dalam kajian ini mengamalkan ciri-ciri kepimpinan instruksional dengan mengamalkan ketujuh-tujuh elemen yang menunjukkan hasil dapatan yang tinggi. Ia membuktikan bahawa ketua jabatan memainkan peranan penting dalam menentukan keberkesanan pengajaran pembelajaran pensyarah dan pelajar. Dalam erti kata lain, ketua jabatan mempunya perspektif yang lebih luas untuk memastikan kualiti pengajaran dan pembelajaran kekal kukuh dan dianggap sebagai faktor yang berkesan dalam menonjolkan ciri-ciri kepimpinan secara langsung mahupun tidak langsung. Kajian juga menunjukkan ketua jabatan mengamalkan ciri-ciri kepimpinan instruksional dengan cemerlang berdasarkan hasil yang diperolehi. Ini membuktikan ciri tersebut perlu menjadi penanda aras bagi institusi lain untuk memastikan jaminan kualiti pemimpin sekaligus prestasi pensyarah dan pelajar.
