Abstract : Perpustakaan Tuanku Bainun
Tujuan kajian kuasi eksperimen ini adalah untuk mengkaji kesan pendekatan pembelajaran berasaskan inkuiri (PBI) dalam mata pelajaran geografi terhadap prestasi pencapaian dan pemerolehan kompetensi pemikiran sistem dari aspek spatial, temporal, disiplin dan budaya. Sampel terdiri daripada 133 murid tingkatan satu di Daerah Batang Padang, Perak yang dipilih secara persampelan bertujuan berdasarkan rasional 'intact group' iaitu kumpulan murid sedia ada. Dua kumpulan eksperimen menerima olahan pengajaran PBI dan PBI melalui penerapan kearifan tempatan (PBI-KA) dan kumpulan kawalan dengan pengajaran konvensional (PK). Pendekatan inkuiri dilaksanakan ke atas dua tajuk menggunakan model Kitar Pembelajaran 5E (KP5E) dan Inkuiri Geografi (IG). Data ujian pra dan pos di analisis secara statistik deskriptif dan inferensial. Keputusan ANOVA mendapati pencapaian geografi F(2,127)=24.88, p=0.00 adalah berbeza secara signifikan di antara kumpulan rawatan dan kumpulan kawalan. Perbezaan yang signifikan turut ditunjukkan dalam pemerolehan kompetensi spatial [F(2,127)=18.82] dan kompetensi budaya [F(2,127)=3.78]. Bagi aspek kompetensi temporal, didapati dimensi pemikiran berpandangan jauh [F(2,127)=4.97] berbeza secara signifikan tetapi tidak bagi pemikiran masa hadapan. Dari aspek kompetensi disiplin, perbezaan signifikan dikesan dalam dimensi pengetahuan substantif mata pelajaran [F(2,127)=9.06] dan konsep gabungan [F(2,127)=6.36]. Sementara itu, kefahaman tentang kesalinghubungan sistem secara signifikannya tidak berbeza (Pillai's Trace = 0.042, F=0.90, p=0.495). Kumpulan rawatan PBI-KA dikesan mempamerkan pemerolehan tiga daripada empat dimensi pemikiran sistem yang ketara lebih tinggi berbanding kumpulan lain. Penemuan lain yang penting adalah bahawa terdapat potensi untuk menerapkan bentuk pengetahuan tempatan ke dalam pengajaran. Sebagai kesimpulannya, pendekatan PBI berjaya meningkatkan prestasi pencapaian geografi dan pemerolehan kompetensi pemikiran sistem di kalangan murid lelaki dan perempuan. Implikasinya, pengajaran inkuiri dengan kearifan tempatan (PBI-KA) dicadangkan sebagai model pengajaran utama mata pelajaran geografi sekolah dalam usaha membangunkan kompetensi pemikiran sistem dengan lebih berkesan.
