Abstract : Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris |
Globalisation has transformed not just international commerce, communications, and economic relations in the second half of the 20th century, but it is also having a profound impact on religious education at the start of the third millennium. Malaysia is a part of the global community. Therefore, Malaysia is experiencing the spillover effects of the globalisation process. Islamic education is a key concept in the Islamic culture and is inextricably linked to the globalisation debate. This study endeavors to unravel the intricate ways in which globalisation has wrought a profound transformation in the realm of Islamic education in Malaysia. In a world where traditional religions have been relegated to the periphery, this study delves into the resilience and pertinence of Islamic education in the contemporary milieu. Embracing the forefront and dynamic realm of information and communication technologies (ICT) in Islamic education is an indispensable step that the Muslim community in Malaysia must take to disseminate Islamic teachings swiftly and efficaciously in consonance with the ever evolving and all-pervasive influence of globalisation. This study deftly navigates a multifaceted terrain of themes, ranging from the impact of ICT on Islamic education, the evolution of the educational curriculum, to the development of innovative educational strategies that can effectively manage Islamic educational institutions in the face of globalisation's daunting challenges. © 2024 Islamic Cultural Centre.
