Abstract : Perpustakaan Tuanku Bainun

Penerimaan ibu bapa terhadap anak yang mempunyai Gangguan Spektrum Autisme (ASD) bukan suatu yang mudah. Ibu bapa menghadapi pelbagai persoalan dan tekanan tentang perihal kelakuan anak yang ditunjukkan ketika mereka membesar. Justeru itu, ibu bapa akan mula mendapatkan informasi berkaitan tingkah laku anak, simptom, rawatan, terapi, agensi dan pelbagai lagi yang berkaitan sebagai langkah awal tindakan mereka. Kajian yang dijalankan ini bertujuan untuk meneroka perspektif ibu bapa tentang informasi awal yang dicari bagi menghadapi anak Gangguan Spektrum Autisme (ASD). Pendekatan kualitatif telah dipilih dengan menggunakan kaedah persampelan bertujuan ke atas 24 orang ibu bapa yang mempunyai anak Gangguan Spektrum Autisme (ASD) sama ada yang telah disahkan oleh pakar atau yang sedang dalam rawatan atau terapi untuk proses pengesahan. Hasil dapatan temu bual dengan menggunakan analisis tematik telah menghasilkan empat tema iaitu saluran dan kandungan informasi, khidmat sokongan, rawatan dan terapi serta hala tuju anak-anak autisme. Kesimpulannya, ibu bapa yang mempunyai anak Gangguan Spektrum Autisme (ASD) sangat memerlukan informasi awal berkaitan autismeini bagi memastikan anak mereka berada pada trek atau keperluan yang sepatutnya. Memandangkan kajian ini hanya meneroka tentang informasi yang ibu bapa perlukan, dicadangkan agar pengkaji akan datang untuk meneroka tentang keperluan keluarga autisme seperti bantuan kewangan, agensi, latihan dan bengkel untuk membantu serta memberi sokongan kepada keluarga yangmempunyai anak autisme.Kata kunci: Autisme, ASD, Keibubapaan, Pengetahuan, Kesedaran dan Informasi
