Artikel ini membincangkan kesan perkembangan rangkaian jalan raya terhadap ekonomi di Malaysia bagi tahun 1963 hingga 1990. Jalan raya memainkan peranan yang penting dalam perkembangan ekonomi negara dengan menghubungkan kawasan bandar ke luar bandar ke pelabuhan dan mampu menjangkau pelbagai kawasan di Semenanjung Malaysia. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan sejarah secara bertulis dan kaedah kualitatif diaplikasikan dengan menganalisis sumber utama yang diperoleh daripada Arkib Negara Malaysia seperti fail rasmi Public Works Department, fail 506/10, Intelligence Reports on Malaya Prior to Japanese Occupation, laporan tahunan, surat khabar dan sumber sekunder lain. Hasil kajian ini memperlihatkan kesan perkembangan jalan raya ke atas ekonomi negara melalui aspek perdagangan, perkhidmatan pengangkutan, pelancongan, peluang pekerjaan, serta pembukaan tanah. Perkembangan infrastruktur jalan raya mendatangkan impak positif dalam perkembangan ekonomi di Malaysia apabila belaku pertambahan jumlah eksport dan import, peningkatan kadar pemilikan kenderaan, peningkatan kemasukan jumlah pelancong, peningkatan peluang pekerjaan dan pembukaan tanah yang lebih meluas bagi membantu golongan kurang berkemampuan.
