Abstract : Perpustakaan Tuanku Bainun
Kajian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis metafora kemurungan dalam kalangan pesakit Kecelaruan Episod Kemurungan Major (MDD) berdasarkan perspektif kognitif dan wacana yang dibangunkan oleh Lakoff dan Johnson (1980) dan Cameron et al. (2010). Reka bentuk kajian ini merupakan kaedah kualitatif menerusi kajian kes yang memfokuskan 38 orang pesakit MDD di Pusat Perubatan Universiti Malaya (PPUM). Dengan membangunkan korpus berpandu, iaitu perisian WordSmith 8.0, data temu bual dengan melibatkan sejumlah 65,594 perkataan telah dianalisis. Prosedur Pengenalpastian Metafora (IMP) yang dicadangkan oleh Kumpulan Pragglejaz (2007) digunakan untuk mengenal pasti ungkapan metafora kemurungan tanpa mengikut gerak hati. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa metafora kemurungan yang dikenal pasti menghasilkan 26 pola, iaitu 16 pola adalah dari perspektif kognitif manakala 10 pola adalah dari perspektif wacana. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa metafora konsepsi GANGGUAN KEMURUNGAN IALAH KEJATUHAN mempunyai peratusan yang paling tinggi berbanding dengan set metafora yang lain. Kedua, konsep kemurungan melalui perspektif wacana dapat merangka pemikiran pesakit kemurungan dan masyarakat sekeliling sehingga membentuk empat set metafora sistematik, iaitu HIDUP DENGAN KEMURUNGAN IALAH PERANG MELAWAN EMOSI DAN TAKDIR ILAHI, PERSEPSI PESAKIT KEMURUNGAN TERHADAP STIGMA MASYARAKAT IALAH PERSEPSI NEGATIF TERHADAP ISLAM, TINDAKAN TIDAK RASIONAL IALAH EMOSI TIDAK STABIL dan KEFAHAMAN TERHADAP KONSEP TAKDIR IALAH PEMIKIRAN STABIL. Kesimpulan kajian ini ialah metafora kemurungan dalam kalangan pesakit MDD dipetakan secara sistematik. Implikasi kajian memberi impak dalam penghasilan data korpus lisan yang dapat meningkatkan kebolehpercayaan untuk digunakan sebagai produk penyelidikan bahasa. Kajian metafora yang merentas disiplin linguistik dapat membantu pakar psikiatri, psikoterapi dan kaunselor untuk meningkatkan kecekapan komunikasi dalam sesi terapi, terutamanya yang melibatkan pesakit mental.
