ABSTRAK Kajian kuasi eksperimen ini bertujuan untuk menentukan kesan pendekatan pembelajaran berasaskan inkuiri (PBI) ke atas pemerolehan kompetensi pemikiran sistem dalam meningkatkan keupayaan pelajar menghubungkan sebab – akibat merentasi skala spatial, temporal, disiplin dan budaya. Sampel 133 pelajar tingkatan satu di tiga buah sekolah menengah Daerah Batang Padang, Perak dipilih secara persampelan bertujuan berdasarkan rasional ‘intact group’ iaitu kumpulan pelajar sedia ada. Dua kumpulan eksperimen menerima intervensi PBI dan PBI dengan penerapan kearifan tempatan (PBI-KA) dan kumpulan kawalan secara pengajaran tradisional.
