| Abstract : Perpustakaan Tuanku Bainun |
| This study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of using songs to listening comprehension. It focuses on the use of songs and recorded texts asan instrument to teach listening comprehension. This study tries to see whether using songs as aninstrument can help to improve students' listening comprehension. The participants were 116 GeneralEnglish students selected based on their SPM English paper results. These students were dividedinto two groups. Students from both groups were taught listening comprehension by using the twoinstruments respectively. Data collected revealed that the students had higher scores in thelistening to song activity as compared to listening to recorded text activity. This indicated thatstudents acquired more listening comprehension skills through exposure to songs. Thus it isrecommended that various genres of songs be used during the English lesson to make it moreinteresting and to achieve better proficiency among the students. |
