| Abstract : Perpustakaan Tuanku Bainun |
| This study aims to explore the possibilities and value of texture in contemporary painting, focusing on its evolution, application techniques, and impact on artistic expression and audience perception. Employing a qualitative research design, the study integrated a multi-faceted methodological framework, including literature reviews, studio-based investigations, and in-depth interviews with 12 contemporary artists and 36 audience members selected through purposive sampling. Data collection involved reflective practice, artwork analysis, and structured interviews, with data analyzed through thematic coding and contextual analysis. The findings reveal that texture has evolved from a secondary visual element to a primary medium for conveying emotions, cultural identity, and conceptual depth, significantly influencing both artistic creation and audience engagement. The study underscores texture's transformative role in enhancing visual and emotional experiences, offering new possibilities for interdisciplinary and multisensory approaches in art. It recommends future research to further explore texture's integration with digital media, as well as its application across diverse cultural and artistic contexts, to expand its theoretical and practical dimensions in contemporary art. |
