| This study investigated the impact of perfectionism and self-esteem on burnout with job satisfaction as mediating variable, among Omani teachers in basic education schools in the Governorate of Muscat. A descriptive-analytical approach was employed, and data were collected through a questionnaire administered to a simple random sample of 572 participants. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, as well as structural modeling, were conducted using AMOS software. The results demonstrated that the employed measures of the variables exhibited satisfactory factorial structures and psychometric properties. The findings revealed a statistically significant positive _=0.05 impact for perfectionism and self-esteem on burnout within the study sample, both independently and collectively, with job satisfaction acting as a mediator. No statistically significant differences were observed in self-esteem dimensions based on gender, years of experience, and marital status. Similarly, no significant differences were found in perfectionism dimensions related to years of experience. However, gender-based differences were identified in the fear of failure dimension, favoring males Average 2.779 vs. 2.209 for females. Additionally, differences in the general dissatisfaction dimension were attributed to marital status, favoring married participants Average 4.618 vs. 4.400 for singles. Regarding job satisfaction dimensions, differences were noted, primarily related to gender, favoring males Average 3,922 vs. 3.612 for females. Based on these results, the study recommends the development of awareness, preventive, and therapeutic programs aimed at improving the mental health and personal traits of Omani teachers to mitigate burnout. It also advocates for the creation of support positions to reduce ancillary job tasks and urges the Ministry of Education to incorporate teacher job satisfaction into its strategic goals. Furthermore, the study emphasizes the need to enhance the financial and moral status of teachers. The researcher suggests conducting further studies on the personal traits of Omani teachers and proposes the development of a national program to foster creativity and professional excellence within a supportive and stimulating work environment. |
