| This study aims to identify the challenges of bil-Hikmah communication between parents and children in guiding adolescent sexuality, analyse the key elements of such communication and propose an effective bil-Hikmah communication model grounded in Islamic values. It adopts a mixed-methods approach using an exploratory sequential design consisting of two phases. The first phase employed a qualitative approach through focus group discussions involving 10 parents selected through purposive sampling and thematic analysis was conducted to identify the challenges and core elements of bil-Hikmah communication. The second phase applied the Fuzzy Delphi Method (FDM) to obtain expert consensus on the components of the proposed model, involving 12 selected experts comprising school counsellors, lecturers and government officers. The findings reveal four main challenges in bil-Hikmah communication, namely the negative influence of social media, social factors such as family conflict and peer influence, educational aspects and psychological issues. Additionally, the study identified parental guidance, role modelling, emotional management and the role of institutions as key elements in bil-Hikmah communication. This study proposed a bil- Hikmah communication model that integrates Islamic values to strengthen the parent child relationship and provide culturally appropriate guidelines for sexuality education. Its implications contribute to the development of educational policies, teacher training, educational resources and community engagement in supporting adolescents holistic sexual development. |
