Abstract : Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris
The research aims to identify students1 problems in mastering the spelling and punctuation of writing an Arabic Language essay at few JAIS religious secondary schools. The researcher uses questionnaire and writing test as the methodologies of collecting information in order to recognize the level of students' performance in utilizing the usage of hamzah letter, aliflztter, letters with similar sound and standard punctuation. The qualitative method is also used by the researcher as it is important to identify the causes and effects of students' problems and weakness. Therefore, by using the questionnaire method, it will achieve the purpose. The population and sample chosen for this research is 80 form two students from four JAIS religious secondary schools around Klang, Kuala Selangor and Hulu Selangor. Findings of the research shows that, students need to do sample writing and reading exercises to improve their weaknesses in spelling skill and using punctuation. Based on the finding, the researcher is able to propose several suggestions to enhance the level and quality of Arabic Language education at JAIS schools.
