Abstract :
Tujuan artikel ini adalah untuk menjelaskan perkembangan dan isu-isu yang berkaitan pendidikan geografi khususnya geografi sekolah di Malaysia. Pendidikan geografi telah melalui perkembangannya sejak sebelum mencapai kemerdekaan pada tahun 1957. Bermula dengan pengaruh dan berorientasi pendidikan kolonial, khususnya jangkamasa sebelum merdeka dan jangkamasa awal selepas merdeka, kurikulum geografi di Malaysia telah berubah selaras dengan perkembangan semasa dan keperluan negara. Perkembangan ini berkait rapat dengan konteks sosio budaya Malaysia dan falsafah yang mendasarinya. Perubahan telah berlaku dari segi status dalam kurikulum negara dan juga dari kandungan. Geografi sekolah juga tidak terlepas daripada isu-isu yang sedikit sebanyak memberi kesan kepada kualiti kurikulumnya khususnya yang melibatkan pelaksanaannya.
