Abstract : Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris
The main objective of this research is to review the effect of plyometric training administered for six weeks period in order to produce power and the quickness of the leg among 13 and 14 years old soccer player in Malacca. Beside, this research is to review the changes that occur in six weeks training period. For that reason two additional test had been done beside pre and post test in second week and the fourth week. It was done in Malacca Sport School that is Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seri Kota. The test subject consist of 33 footballer aged 13 and 14 years old. Subject were divided into two groups, experimental group (n = 17) underwent plyometric training program and the other were control group (n = 16) underwent the usual training program without plyometric training. Experimental research methodology had been used in this research to obtain data through the test item, that is Vertical Jump to measure leg power and 30 meter sprint test to measure leg quickness. Data collected were computer analysed by Statistical Package for Social Science Programme (SPSS). Paired Sample T-Test and One-Way Anova For Repeated Measured Test were used to compare mean and standard deviation to answer first to sixth hypothesis in this research. The mean score of the vertical jump test in the pre test (M = 42.71, SD = 5.61) were compared to the mean score of the second week test (M = 45.06, SD = 5.62), fourth week test (M = 49.06, SD = 5.44) and post test (M = 51.06, SD = 5.62). Same goes to the mean score for the test of 30 meter sprint in pre test (M = 5.58, SD = 0.41) also compared to the mean score of the second week test (M = 5.45, SD = 0.40), fourth week test (M= 5.22, SD = 0.40) and post test (M = 5.01, SD = .38). Independent Sample T-Test was used to answer the seventh and eighth research hypothesis to compare the mean score of Vertical Jump Test between experimental group (M = 51.06, SD = 5.62) and the control group (M = 43.38, SD =5.48). The comparison of mean score for the 30 meter sprint test was done between the experimental group (M = 5.01, SD = .38) and the control group (M = 5.64, SD = 0.38). Result from data analysis shows that there were significant difference in order to produce power and the quickness of the legs among 13 and 14 years old soccer players in Malacca.
