Abstract :
Penggunaan perkapita cendawan dunia sebagai sumber makanan semakin meningkat. Peningkatan permintaan cendawan di pasaran dimangkinkan oleh kelebihan potensi cendawan dalam rantaian industri farmaseutikal, nutraseutikal, kosmesuetikal dan industri hiliran berkaitan. Oleh itu, artikel ini memfokus terhadap penilaian faktor yang mendorong kepada permintaan cendawan di pasaran negeri Selangor. Kajian turut menilai tahap permintaan pasaran cendawan berdasarkan kaum utama. Kajian permintaan ini dinilai menerusi perspektif agropreneur yang menjalankan perusahaan cendawan di Selangor. Saiz sampel terdiri daripada 36 orang agropreneur. Pemilihan Selangor sebagai kawasan kajian adalah kerana saiz permintaan dan penawaran cendawan di pasarannya adalah yang tertinggi di Malaysia. Hasil kajian menonjolkan faktor kesihatan melibatkan potensi perubatan dan nilai nutrisi yang tinggi merupakan pendorong utama kepada permintaan tinggi terhadap cendawan di Selangor selain faktor keenakan rasanya. Pengaruh promosi, rakan dan harga pasaran cendawan yang berpatutan turut mempengaruhi tahap permintaan cendawan di pasaran. Permintaan yang sentiasa meningkat membuka peluang kepada agropreneur untuk meningkatkan pengeluaran hasil serta mengatur strategi lonjakan pemasaran tanaman herba ini. Peningkatan permintaan dan keupayaan penawaran yang cekap akan meningkatkan kepelbagaian potensi produk hiliran cendawan, justeru akan mengukuhkan industri agromakanan di Malaysia.
