Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti hubungan antara personaliti dan prestasi
kerja dalam kalangan guru prasekolah berdasarkan lima item yang terdapat dalam model personaliti
Big Five berpandukan teori personaliti Eysenck dan satu item prestasi kerja dalam kalangan guru
prasekolah yang mengajar disekolah kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia daerah Manjung, Perak. Pendekatan
kuantitatif melalui kajian kes instrumental digunakan. Sampel kajian yang dipilih secara rawak
terdiri daripada 56 orang guru prasekolah yang mengajar kanak-kanak enam tahun. Data yang
diperolehi melalui soal selidik dianalisis dengan statistik deskriptif dan analisis korelasi
Pearson. Dapatan menunjukkan tahap personaliti Big Five openness (M=3.70, SP=0.43) adalah tahap
paling tinggi dan diikuti dengan conscientouness (M=3.60, SP=0.30), extroversion (M=3.50, SP=
0.40), agreeableness (M= 3.34, SP=0.50) dan neuroticism (M=3.31, SP=0.60) serta tahap bagi prestasi
kerja adalah (M=3.80, SP=0.44). Kajian ini menunjukkan kesemua ciri personaliti Big Five tidak
mempunyai hubungan yang signifikan dengan prestasi kerja, dimana extroversion dan prestasi kerja
(r=-0.079, p=0.533) diikuti agreeableness (r=-0.049, p=0.515), conscientiousness (r=-0.173,
p=0.190), neuroticism (r=-0.005, p=0.969) dan openness (r=-0.056, p=0.672). Sebagai kesimpulan,
kajian menujukkan semua lima ciri personaliti Big five tidak berhubungan secara positif dan tidak
signifikan, ciri personaliti ini dapat ditingkatkan dan guru prasekolah haruslah mempunyai
personaliti yang menarik dan melalui ciri personaliti ini, guru prasekolah dijadikan sebagai sumber
rujukan kepada ibu bapa dan pihak-pihak tertentu. Implikasi kajian menunjukkan tiga aspek utama
mengikut tahap ciri personaliti Big Five iaitu openness, conscientiousness dan extroversion tidak
berhubung dengan prestasi kerja sebaliknya prestasi kerja sampelkajian dipengaruhi oleh factor
demografi, Justeru, saranan dalam meningkatkan ciri personality dan tahap prestasi kerja dalam
kalangan gutu prasekolah; pemilihan calon guru prasekolah serta kandungan latihan di
institusi-institusi perguruan perlulah mengikut tahap ciri
personality Big Five dalam melahirkan guru yang lebih cemerlang.
