Abstract : Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris |
Kajian ini bertujuan meneroka ciri-ciri guru pendidikan awal kanak-kanak (PAKK)
yang kompeten berdasarkan perspektif pakar PAKK, pegawai kerajaan dan pengusaha TASKA dan TADIKA.
Kajian ini melibatkan 26 orang informan yang terdiri daripada tujuh orang pakar PAKK, tujuh
orang pegawai kerajaan dan 12 orang pengusaha TASKA dan TADIKA. Temu bual separa
berstruktur dijalankan bagi memperoleh data berkaitan ciri-ciri guru PAKK yang kompeten.
Analisis tematik yang dijalankan menghasilkan empat tema utama yang menyokong tinjauan
literatur iaitu ilmu pengetahuan, kemahiran, pengalaman dan sahsiah. Dapatan kajian
menunjukkan bahawa terdapat dua sumber ilmu pengetahuan guru PAKK, iaitu kelayakan akademik dan
program pembangunan profesional. Dari segi kemahiran, antara kemahiran yang perlu dimiliki oleh
guru PAKK yang kompeten ialah kemahiran pedagogi, kemahiran komunikasi, kemahiran bahasa
Inggeris dan kemahiran ICT. Dari segi pengalaman, dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa guru
PAKK perlu memiliki pengalaman bagi memastikan proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran dilaksanakan
dengan berkesan dan sistematik. Dari segi sahsiah, dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa guru PAKK
yang kompeten perlu memiliki personaliti seperti penyayang, sabar, prihatin, komited, sifat
keibuan, jujur dan minat dengan kanak-kanak. Di samping itu, analisis tematik yang dijalankan turut
membawa kepada perolehan satu tema baharu berkaitan kompetensi guru PAKK, iaitu kreativiti.
Berdasarkan analisis tersebut, guru PAKK yang kompeten didapati perlu memiliki kreativiti
dalam penyediaan dan penggunaan bahan pembelajaran kanak-kanak. Sebagai kesimpulan, dapatan kajian
mendapati guru-guru PAKK perlu melengkapkan diri mereka dengan ilmu pengetahuan,
kemahiran, pengalaman, sahsiah dan kreativiti bagi meningkatkan kualiti PAKK. Implikasi kajian ini
membawa kepada pembinaan satu kerangka kompetensi guru PAKK yang boleh
dijadikan rujukan oleh pihak-pihak yang terlibat dalam bidang PAKK.
