Abstract : Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris |
Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti tahap prestasi IPTS dan untuk mengenal pasti pengaruh
gaya kepimpinan transformasional, kepimpinan transaksional dan kepimpinan laissez-faire ke
atas prestasi Institusi Pengajian Tinggi Swasta (IPTS) di Malaysia. Kajian yang dijalankan menerusi
kaedah tinjauan ini melibatkan responden yang terdiri daripada kakitangan sokongan IPTS, di
bawah UniKL bahagian Utara Semenanjung Malaysia, iaitu UniKL Royal College of
Medicine Perak, UniKL Malaysian Institute of Marine Engineering Technology dan UniKL Malaysian
Spanish Institute. Soal selidik telah diedarkan kepada 152 sampel yang telah dipilih secara rawak
berstrata dengan kadar respon 97.37%. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan tahap prestasi IPTS ini adalah
tinggi (min = 3.73, sisihan piawai = 0.654) yang dicapai terutamanya menerusi kualiti
graduan yang dihasilkan, penggunaan teknologi dan keupayaan organisasi memberi perkhidmatan
yang baik. Dapatan juga menunjukkan nilai R² adalah 0.782 iaitu, 78.2 peratus daripada variasi yang
wujud dalam prestasi organisasi boleh diterangkan oleh gaya kepimpinan
transformasional, gaya kepimpinan transaksional dan gaya kepimpinan laissez-faire. Kajian
ini mendapati gaya kepimpinan transformasional (β = 0.728, p ≤ 0.001 = 0.000) dan gaya
kepimpinan transaksional (β = 0.627, p ≤ 0.001 = 0.000) mempunyai pengaruh yang signifikan dan
positif terhadap prestasi organisasi. Sebaliknya gaya kepimpinan laissez-faire (β = 0.312,
p = 0.405) tidak mempunyai pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap prestasi organisasi. Oleh
itu dapat disimpulkan pemimpin mengamalkan gaya kepimpinan transformasional dan gaya kepimpinan
transaksional, maka tahap prestasi organisasi yang tinggi dapat dicapai terutamanya dari aspek
pengoperasian, penggunaan teknologi dan kewangan. Namun jika pemimpin mengamalkan gaya
kepimpinan laissez-faire, ianya tidak menyumbang kepada prestasi organisasi. Kajian ini
memberi sumbangan penting kepada bidang kepimpinan IPTS memandangkan ianya
masih terhad di Malaysia. Dapatan kajian ini boleh dijadikan rujukan dan garis panduan kepada
pelbagai pihak khususnya pentadbir organisasi dan kepimpinan IPTS dalam menentukan gaya
kepimpinan yang sesuai diamalkan
terhadap kakitangan mereka.
