Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji impak penggunaan peranti mudah alih dalam
meningkatkan tingkah laku sedentari dari aspek faktor, risiko dan kekerapan
penggunaan dalam kalangan kanak-kanak. Kajian ini merupakan sebuah kajian kualtitatif
dan menggunakan teknik temu bual bagi mendapatkan maklumat. Pemilihan subjek kajian
menggunakan persampelan bertujuan melibatkan 10 orang ibu bapa daerah Muallim, Perak.
Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa ibu bapa mendefinisikan peranti mudah alih sebagai satu
bentuk hiburan yang berteknologi dan memberikan keseronokkan kepada kanak-kanak. Penggunaan peranti
mudah alih ini memberikan kesan dan menjejaskan perkembangan tingkah laku kanak-kanak. Kajian ini
mendapati bahawa ibu bapa memahami ciri-ciri kanak-kanak yang bertingkah laku sedentari. Kekangan
masa yang berpunca daripada ibu bapa yang membenarkan kanak-kanak menggunakan peranti mudah
alih adalah faktor yang menghalang proses perkembangan kanak-kanak daripada berlaku. Dapatan
kajian juga menunjukkan bahawa penggunaan peranti mudah alih memberi kesan terhadap
tingkah laku iaitu wujud tingkah laku sedentari dalam kalangan kanak-kanak. Namun,
tingkah laku sedentari tersebut tidak menjejaskan hubungan baik secara individu antara ibu bapa
dan kanak-kanak. Tempoh masa penggunaan peranti mudah alih juga menjejaskan tingkah laku
kanak-kanak akibat penggunaan yang berlebihan. Secara kesimpulannya, penggunaan peranti mudah
alih memberi implikasi kepada tingkah laku sedentari
kanak-kanak secara langsung dan tidak langsung.
