Myth reflects the collective memory of a nation and is the source of national philosophy, religion and literature. Since the 1930 s, mythology research in China are rising, although there are many comparative study of Chinese and western myths in China, but the types and research perspectives is unitary, and the lack of theoretical framework, of the comparison of the myths about China and the Arab world almost no data can find, so the researcher decided to set up bridge of Arab mythology and Chinese mythology research, the research field of comparative study to enrich the research data. This thesis will focus on three research questions: what are myths in Chinese and Arabic literature? What are the similarities and differences between Arabic mythology and Chinese mythology? And what is the importance of the mythical image of the phoenix in Arabic mythology and Chinese mythology? This thesis is an exploratory and descriptive qualitative study. The researcher used a method of comparative literary to achieve the research purpose. This thesis compares the image of phoenix in Chinese mythology with that in Arabic mythology, explains the fundamental difference between Arabic mythology and Chinese mythology, and discusses the great influence of phoenix on Arabic literature and Chinese literature, as well as the extensive significance of the myth in today's world.
