Abstract : Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris
Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti tahap literasi peta dunia dan faktor yang menentukannya dalam kalangan pelajar Ijazah Sarjana Muda Pendidikan Geografi di Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). Bagi mencapai tujuan tersebut, reka bentuk kajian tinjauanmenggunakan instrumen borang soal selidik digunakan. Sampel kajian terdiri daripada 191 orang mahasiswa geografi di UPSI dengan menggunakan teknik persampelan rawak mudah. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis deskriptif (kekerapan, peratus dan min) dan analisis inferensi iaitu ujian Khi-kuasa Dua. Dapatan kajian daripada ujian literasi peta dunia menunjukkan bahawa tahap literasi peta dunia dalam kalangan mahasiswa geografi adalah tahap yang baik (71.7%). Seterusnya, analisis daripada ujian Khi-kuasa Dua menunjukkan bahawa tahap literasi peta dunia ditentukan oleh faktor tahap minat mempelajari peta dunia [ X2 = 24.305, df=9, N=191, p= .004 ], kekerapan menggunakan perisian Google Earth [X2 = 21.645, df=12, N=191, p=0.042], kekerapan menonton televisyen berkaitan informasi negara luar [X2 = 30.135, df=12, N=191, p= .003], pengalaman melancong [ X2 = 13.143, df=3, N=191, p= .004] dan ibu bapa yang prihatin terhadap pencapaian akademik [X2 = 34.939, df=12, N=191, p= .000]. Dapatan daripada kajian ini bermanfaat kepada pelbagai pihak yang berkaitan bagi melalukan intervensi yang sepadan dalam meningkatkan tahap literasi peta dunia khususnya dalam kalangan mahasiswa geografi di UPSI dan generasi muda secara amnya.
