Abstract : Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris
The major objective of the research is to explore the literary traditions of the Tamil Sangam and Medieval Period in the Christian marriage of the Tirunelveli Tamils. This research is designed in a qualitative approach. The two methods such as field work and library work were used for this study. The findings show that the marriage patterns beginning from seeing the Bride to the post-marriage rituals of Tirunelveli Tamil Christians have similarities to the marriages that were practiced during the Tamil Sangam and Medieval Period. This study is useful in teaching the younger generation about the literary traditions of the Tamil Sangam and Medieval Period in the Christian marriages of the Tirunelveli Tamils The research claims to be the first such attempt to do a study regarding the literary traditions of the Tamil Sangam and Medieval Period in the Christian marriage of the Tirunelveli Tamils.
